Husband has told me to pick whatever middle name I like (he’s lost the will!) but I’ve got no one to bounce ideas off because it’s being kept secret!

I liked:

Maddison-Mae Clementine
Maddison-Mae Emmeline

I’m a fan of a traditional middle name so we have modern and old. Which do you prefer or could you think of any others that would go with her first name of M-M?? I’m hitting a brick wall now and it’s stressing me out! X

SoupDragon Sat 10-Feb-18 09:06:31

I wouldn’t give a middle name at all with that hypenated first name.

Worldsworstcook Sat 10-Feb-18 09:06:44

M-Mae Louisa

alpineibex Sat 10-Feb-18 09:08:10

Mm Clementine

PointeShoesAndTutus Sat 10-Feb-18 09:12:29

I would go for something simple, like Rose or Ella.

It might be how you want it, but I think the more conventional spelling of Madison is with one d. Something to think about so little one isn't constantly having to spell her name out.

Heratnumber7 Sat 10-Feb-18 09:14:31

I would drop the -Mae and go for Madison May (no -).

I still don't like it, but it is slightly less awful.

floriad Sat 10-Feb-18 09:56:25

Madison May Clementine
Madison May Florence
Madison May Louise
Madison May Genevieve
Madison May Charlotte
Madison May Victoria
Madison May Claudia
Madison May Cecilia
Madison May Catherine
Madison May Elizabeth
Madison May Lydia

I prefer May Madison ...., to be honest.

SuperBeagle Sat 10-Feb-18 10:18:34

Madison May Emmeline.

Maddison-Mae isn't great.

May Clementine or May Emmeline would be perfect.

walkingdowntheboulevard Sat 10-Feb-18 10:29:21

I would go for something short.

I also, think she will get maddymay eventually. Do,you like that?

5BlueHydrangea Sat 10-Feb-18 10:49:21

Emmeline of your options.
Also Eliza, Rebecca, Marie, Rosa
Depends what goes with your surname and middle names aren't used that much generally in day to day life (saying that dd2 has 2!)

floriad Sat 10-Feb-18 11:13:31

May Madison Clementine would be lovely imo. smile
But I'm slightly biased... May is actually one of my favourite first names (but it's slightly boring as a middle or second name in my personal opinion).

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sat 10-Feb-18 12:31:43

Maddison-Mae Clementine, but I like Clementine Mae the best.

MikeUniformMike Sat 10-Feb-18 15:11:32

Maddison-Mae is awful. Madison is the standard spelling, and May is better than Mae. The -Mae is considered downmarket (some would say chavvy).
The combined name is too long and she will probably be known as Maddy.

Have a read of the MN baby naming guidelines.

Hoppy2515 Sat 10-Feb-18 15:44:32

OMG, how rude are some of you!! If you can’t say anything nice or constructive, don’t waste your time or mine by posting such nasty comments! It is possible to express an opinion in a diplomatic way without being offensive.

SoupDragon Sat 10-Feb-18 15:48:34

I can only see one nasty comment confused

Mossbystrand Sat 10-Feb-18 16:28:40

I'm not keen on Maddison tbh, I'm not keen on place names as first names but it's a personal preference. However, I would drop the hyphenated -Mae and turn it into a middle name in it's own right. Then there's no need to choose another middle name.

Maddison is quite 80's and dated whereas Clementine is timeless and ages well. I'd choose Clementine May surname, that's more of a classy combination.

RavenWings Sat 10-Feb-18 16:43:36

Maddison-Mae is awful.

Agreed. Madison is lovely, Mae is bland. Maddison-Mae is a horrible combination. There are a zillion kids with Mae/May as a middle name and the combination just sounds downmarket.

Nothing wrong with Madison, I'd keep it. I liked these out of the names suggested:

Madison Clementine
Madison Charlotte
Madison Victoria

I also like
Madison Faith
Madison Hazel
Madison Marie
Madison Irene
Madison Pearl
Madison Laurel
Madison Rhian

IVflytrap Sat 10-Feb-18 22:40:20

I would go with the standard Madison spelling. If she is Maddison, she will spend her life being "Maddison-with-two-D"s.

Emmeline is lovely. I think Madison Emmeline Mae flows really well. I would put Mae as an additional middle name instead of tacking it on to the first name.

Madison Emmeline Mae
Madison Caroline Mae
Madison Mabel
Madison Annabel Mae
Madison Mae Louise
Madison Mae Cora

or just Madison Mae by itself. smile

MollyHuaCha Sat 10-Feb-18 22:52:59

Maddison-Mae Britnee
Maddison-Mae Merkayla
Maddison-Mae Lacey-Belle

BewareOfDragons Sat 10-Feb-18 23:01:21

Please don't hyphenate her first name. Please.

And Madison should only have one 'D'. Please don't make your DD constantly correct her (mis)spelled name for the rest of her life. She won't thank you for it.

Clementine is a lovely middle name. So is Emmeline, but Clementine works better with Madison.

bluesouper Sat 10-Feb-18 23:19:16

Maddison-Mae isn't a nice name to my taste. I agree with spelling it the correct way, Madison. And maybe Mae as a middle. No hyphen

blatblatblat Sun 11-Feb-18 00:01:33

I like Clementine.

Personally I'd drop the hyphen so she can choose whether to use both first names or just one (e.g. my DP is John Paul, and goes by " John" (professional situations) "JP"(friends) or "John Paul" (his mum))

MikeUniformMike Sun 11-Feb-18 11:54:17

Hoppy2515, you asked us for opinions. Why do you think some of us are rude? We're just being honest.

SoFancy Sun 11-Feb-18 11:58:42

I agree with IVflytrap - Madison Emmeline Mae is the nicest option.

NC4Now Sun 11-Feb-18 12:00:12

I’d also go with Madison May. It’s a bit fussy hyphenated, especially with another middle name.
If there isn’t something you love or has a strong significance, I’d keep it simple.
