I'm 38 weeks and we're still to decide on a name from our list. We love all of them so just want honest opinions on what you think of (if anything) when you hear them! Any suggestions are welcome and bonus points for cute nicknames!
Cairn
Conall
Dougal nn. Dougie
Fraser
Lachlan nn. Lockie
Struan

Not Cairn - in Gaelic pronounced 'Carn'
It really does mean a pile of memorial stones. Why would anyone use that as a name?
The others all fine, Best wishes when the great day comes.

Not on your list but I love Angus smile

Fekko Fri 12-Jan-18 18:54:10

Hmmm at Cairn (as said above - it’s a memorial pile of rocks).

I was thinking more of Stewart, Scott, Andrew...

Connal is Irish, not sure if that impacts your choice at all, and cairn, maybe a little too out there. The rest are pretty standard though.

I love Alasdair, also Ruaridh and Angus. All were on my list.

From your list I prefer Lachlan (but expect it will be shortened to Lack or Lackie) and Fraser.

We almost had a Cairn. We were naming DS2 by sticking a pin in the map having exhausted most normal routes. We lived south of Edinburgh at the time and in the accent it came out as Kay rin. Too girly.

He ended up as a Keir. We also considered Gregor.

From your list I like Struan and Fraser the best smile

MikeUniformMike Fri 12-Jan-18 19:08:04

I like Alastair too.

scotsmumof1 Fri 12-Jan-18 19:12:07

thanks WaxOn your stick-a-pin-in-it approach is surprisingly rewarding when looking in Scotland - we're blessed with beautiful landscapes and place names!!

angelopal Fri 12-Jan-18 19:15:24

Lachlan is nice.

WaxOnFeckOff Fri 12-Jan-18 19:25:00

Poor thing didn't have a name for a week and a half. Desperate times and all that... grin

WaxOnFeckOff Fri 12-Jan-18 19:25:42

DS1 was almost Blaven after the mountain in Skye but we weren't brave enough .

n0ne Fri 12-Jan-18 19:38:04

Love Struan

ChocolateCrunch Fri 12-Jan-18 20:05:15

From your list, I like Fraser. Other names I like are Hamish and Angus.
