Anyone seen or heard a name which has a ridiculous spelling? I was served in a shop today by a Georja.

Looked very wrong

Robynne. Laurayne. Keli.
I quite like unique spellings, but some just don't look right. I mean what's the point of adding to silent letters to Robyn.

I know this spelling is used but not often: a friend of mine has a Lillie.

Lillie is a pokemon cartoon anime. Also a lifetime of saying no it's not Lily it's Lillie.

Eevee so named because her df likes pokemon hmm I just think it means a lifetime of correcting other people's spelling.

Magpie24 Sat 09-Dec-17 17:17:55

Linzi for Lindsey, although maybe that is more common now?

EvilTwins Sat 09-Dec-17 17:19:55

I used to teach a Zowie (was still pronounced Zoe)

ShuttyTown Sat 09-Dec-17 17:21:05

They just look really weird written down, like it's a spelling mistake confused

ShuttyTown Sat 09-Dec-17 17:21:48

Goodness @EvilTwins that's one of the worst I've seen!

I went to school with somebody called Leica- ie Lisa. Every time we had a new teacher she had to explain.

She's presumably spent her entire life doing this.

goose1964 Sat 09-Dec-17 17:26:22

is it a foreign spelling? i know of Jorja. My friend's daughter is Krysytyna bit that's the Polish spelling (DF is Polish)

ShuttyTown Sat 09-Dec-17 20:02:22

@goose1964 not sure, she didn't have an accent or anything but suppose it could be.

My goodness the Lisa one takes the biscuit, that's just horrendous!

tissuesosoft Sat 09-Dec-17 20:05:43

Aimeee, Char (Cher), Ashleey, Tea (with no accent so should be Teà), Tygre (Tiger/Tyger), Bambiie,

tissuesosoft Sat 09-Dec-17 20:08:41

Mai and Mya but pronounced Mia. Leeanna (pronounced Leanne), Dyelan (Dylan/Dillon),

Wishfulmakeupping Sat 09-Dec-17 20:10:22

When I read the thread title I immediately thought 'Jorga' completely ruins an absolutely beautiful name

YCAWS Sat 09-Dec-17 20:10:48

There's a Mykey- Mikey at my daughters pre school confused

FrLukeDuke Sat 09-Dec-17 20:14:07

ShuttyTown Sat 09-Dec-17 21:32:04

Chelcie is dire!

SellFridges Sat 09-Dec-17 21:33:33

Olyviah. Or something like that. Awful.

totsalot Sat 09-Dec-17 21:35:30

There's a grayzie at playgroup. Her mum always gets annoyed when people say it as it's spelt so "grey zee" instead of "Gracie"

MrsFoxPlus4 Sat 09-Dec-17 21:36:57
