This must be a joke, surely?

I was looking through the Telegraph birth announcements for name inspiration and to try and gauge popularity of names etc. I came across a recent announcement of the birth of a baby with a perfectly normal name with siblings named Maggot and Compost shock. Surely nobody could name their children Maggot and Compost?

Justmuddlingalong Thu 07-Dec-17 19:08:43

I would imagine they're either pets, or kids nicknames.

Their last name is also nature related!

babynamelol Thu 07-Dec-17 19:09:49

I didn't think that they could be pets, makes sense I suppose.

It's not unusual. My DC are called cowpat and flea.

HitManHitMan Thu 07-Dec-17 19:43:36

I actually really like flea as a name. confusedgrin

Mystery solved

babynamelol Thu 07-Dec-17 19:47:04

I really want to know what the new baby's nickname is now.

haba Thu 07-Dec-17 19:48:56

It'll be Margot and Cosmo, and an in joke!

ShizzleYoDrizzle Fri 08-Dec-17 04:04:16

Posh people are allowed have these in jokes. Plebs wouldn't be indulged to the same degree.

ShizzleYoDrizzle Fri 08-Dec-17 04:07:19

Jago known as Compost and Margot known as Maggot...

Urgh.

Tossers.

And little Ivo will presumably be known as Pustule? Dry rot? Woodlouse?

Battleax Fri 08-Dec-17 04:18:20

Strange people. It's almost as though the aristocracy is inbred and eccentric smile

PrincessoftheSea Fri 08-Dec-17 04:32:35

Why would they need to mention nick names in the birth announcement? confused

MyOtherProfile Fri 08-Dec-17 04:37:06

How do you pronounce Jago? I'm imagining it as Iago but maybe the j is hard?

Battleax Fri 08-Dec-17 04:39:44

YAR-go

Friolero Fri 08-Dec-17 05:02:05

I think it's Jay-go

HuskyMcClusky Fri 08-Dec-17 05:02:26

Jago, Margot and Ivo?

Okay, then. grin

ivenoideawhatimdoing Fri 08-Dec-17 05:17:47
