Hazel?

DD4 is due in the new year and DH has put Hazel forward as his top choice in name.

I do really like it, but also keep thinking of it as a name associated with my MIL’s generation. We’ve had mainly ‘so and so’s aunt/nan/sister is called Hazel’ when we mentioned it to family.

Our current DD’s names don’t follow a ‘theme’ however one does have a nature inspired name which Hazel fits very nicely with.

Thoughts?

It is quite old fashioned, but I know two (one elderly and one a slip if a girl) and they're both absolutely lovely, with lots about them, IYSWIM. For me, it's a lovely name.

Might be odd if they have piercing blue eyes though!

I love this name and nature inspired names. A friend’s young DD is called this and it really suits her, and is both original but not unfamiliar. Plus I think it’s really cute when small to call her Hazel Nut (you might not think so!)

I think it's absolutely beautiful OP.

I like it. It's pretty and unusual.

I dont think it matters what colour eyes your child has being called Hazel. You get lots of Violet's and Scarlett's.

I like it. I've only ever known one and I remember thinking what a lovely name when she introduced herself.
It doesn't feel old fashioned to me. Just pretty and a little bit different. Go for it.

Love it and I'd say it was due a comeback! Loads of older generation names come back round so I wouldn't worry about what it in fashion, if you both love it I'd go for it! Congrats on your little girl x

I like it. Know two under 5 and taught a few Turkish Hazels over the years too.

Hazel - Nuts! My friend gets this over and over for her entire life - she really hates it. It's also delivered like the person is the first person to think of it. Just something to think about - I've come across quite a few here in NI and always really, really lovely women.

This is one of my top girls names. Lovely and a bit different without being too girly and frilly.

It's actually fairly common these days. Particularly Hazel Grace

I'm smiling at the thought of it being 'old fashioned' with all the Eddie and Ivy and Alfie names there are around these days. Smile

Hazel is a lovely name.
