Boys names to go with sister called Chloe

I am having my 12w scan soon, so I do know I am being a bit premature when it comes to names for my DD2... however, my DH and I have thought possibly about name Harley if we have a boy, and naming his middle name James after my dear departed brother.

I think Harley James sounds a good name, but how well does Harley go with Chloe as a sibling name? Be kind please!

I don't understand why names have to go with each other? How does that even work unless you mean not calling one child Jim and the other Beautiful butterfly with the sun shining Ophelia

Well what a lovely first response there!

Harley James is a lovely name.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your brother.

Massive congrats on your pregnancy - middle naming for your brother is a lovely tribute.

I think Harley James is lovely! I honestly first thought James when you said Chloe!

If you think it's a bit too 'L-ey' what about variants of Harley?
Harvey?
Harlow?
Harper?
Harry?

Really don't like Harley. Chloe is a much nicer name.

James is great as a middle name.

Not a fan of Harley personally. My first thought was Chloe and Benjamin.

Benjamin James is lovely I think!

James is lovely, not really a fan of Harley. I also don't know why sibling names need to "go"

Chloe and Harley sound good together.

I know a two Chloe's. One has a brother called Harry. The other has two brothers - Ryan and Tobias.

They sound okay together, but Harley is more of a 'modern' name IMO.

Most of the Chloes I know were born in the 90s, so typical names that would go with Chloe would be:
Thomas
Harry
Matthew etc.

Thank you everyone. I think it is my DH’s choice as a name more than mine TBH.

I do like the name Harley but in many ways prefer James, and probably Alfie or Harry although we already have both these in the family so can’t use them unless he doesn’t mind having a cousin with the same name!

Of course, this could all be irrelevant as we may be having another girl!

I agree in some ways with some of you that sibling names don’t necessarily have to ‘go’; I guess I just like the sound of certain names together and am prob being a bit fussy!

Any input on these girls’ names too please...:

Amelia
Sophia
Isabella
Jessica

Or any other good girls names please, preferably nothing too popular at the moment as I don’t fancy having a name that is the third Ava or something in the class! Wink

The girls' names you have just suggested OP are all very popular, and it is likely that any Amelia, Sophia, Isabella or Jessica (and Ava) will be one of many in their class.

Some other, less popular girls' names could be:
Imogen
Thea
Rose
Miley
Flora
Georgia
Georgina

I don't think Jessica is used as much as the other 3 girls names you mention. Other similar names that are not used as much:

Jennifer
Tamsin
Amanda
Stephanie
Cressida
Phoebe
Jacinta
Vivienne

Anastacia (nn Stacia or Stacie)
Alicia (pronounced A-lee-sha)

These are all great suggestions - I actually really like Poppy and Sophia for girls, along with Alfie James and Lucas James too.

It all depends on what my DH thinks too of course - he was more keen than me on Harley as a boy’s name.

I’ll be thinking more definitely in a few weeks when I find out what we’re having! Wink

it is likely that any Amelia, Sophia, Isabella or Jessica (and Ava) will be one of many in their class they'd have to be a bit unlucky to be one of many- my dd has one of these names and there is one other child in the year group of 100 with it, spelled differently. Even very common names aren't that common!

I love James, super classic but not dated name for a boy.

Agree. Dd in a year group of 90. 1 Amelia (and two Amelies), no Sophias (but two Sophies), no Isabellas (or Isabelles), no Jessicas, no Avas.

Two Olivias, two Imogens and a Lily, a Lilly and a Lilia.

For boys there are two Georges, two Rileys and two Joshuas.

Don’t know any names that there are three (or more!) of.
