How to make the final decision?!

SparkleMotion82 · 29/11/2017 19:02

Just that really! I can’t decide and am 38 weeks tomorrow (and stressed myself out so much over my first daughter’s name that we changed it by deed poll) so I’d really like to not repeat the anxiety this time.

I have an earlier thread where people have been really super helpful with their opinions on the names (thank you)!

The choice is the following as a sister for Élodie:

Rose Florence Willow [Last name]
Raffaela Rose Willow [Last name]
Claudia Rose Willow [Last name]

I think perhaps Rose is my favourite deep down, but my husband likes Florence a lot as it’s special to him and I don’t want to discount that. I didn’t include it as a first name option as I wasn’t sure if it was slightly frumpy? But maybe I should reconsider. Rafael is a boys name we’ve liked for 10 years or so, but I think Claudia is the one I find nicest to say phonetically and I think goes best with Élodie verbally, although Claudia as a name doesn’t have a special meaning for us - it’s a relatively new one I’ve come across (to us anyway).

I’m finding it impossible to weigh up all the pros and cons - any help on how to make a final choice, would be great. Sorry for all my posts! I really value every comment. Thanks all ❤️

Pretend you are having a bad day with 2 dc - put on your best cross face and try shouting out names and see which flow the best!!' Elodie and x be quiet!!'

Rose gets my vote.

I like Rose Florence and Claudia Rose of the listed :)

I don't think Florence is too frumpy! I know of quite a few Florences born in the last 10 years or so, and two babies I know within the last year. It's a lovely name! Florence Rose flows nicely, too

Florence Rose?

It sounds better to me than the reverse.
Then you can decide which name you actually call her.

I love Florence and don't think it's frumpy at all. I also love Rose though. Both go well with Elodie.

  1. They are all nice. You can't go wrong.

  1. Imagine each name on your child as a baby, a child, a teen, an adult. Any that seems the most all-purpose?

  1. Is there anything you might regret here, e.g. If you insisted on rose over Florence, knowing the latter was special to your DH, would you feel bad afterwards? Or in the reverse case, feel bad for yourself?

  1. Completely stop thinking about it for now. The answer will become apparent if you 'let go' of the decision.

Just some thoughts, Hope one or other may help!

Love rose and Claudia :) great choices

I feel ur pain, it's not easy choosing a name u love, and thts without considering ur partners choices !

I also changed one of my childrens names by deed poll!
Good luck..
I'm on my 6th pregnancy and it's taken me this long to realise that names aren't That important (as long as it doesn't cause ridicule) ! All of my children have nicknames which are totally unrelated to their actual names anyway !
All the best :) don't stress x

Rose Claudia Willow is lovely. Don't stress Sweet, you'll find your name. Whatever you decide, don't agree for the sake of it, Rose is classic, timeless, and beautiful.

Why not wait until you meet your baby to choose which suits her best?
I had a name in mind for DC2 but as soon as I saw the baby the name just didn't feel right and we ended up using something completely different.

Claudia Rose.

Florence is pretty popular, and I really dislike Rafaela- it reminds me of those coconut Fererro Rocher chocolates.

Florence has been really popular for a while, if that bothers. I'd definitely have it as the middle name if it's important to your DH.

Rose is good, I prefer Claudia (would you say Clowdia or Clawdia? Bear in mind that there are two pronunciations!) It does go better with Elodie - Rose is far more popular, so she might feel a bit short changed! Or she might love it - it is beautiful.

I would go for Claudia Florence, but if you really love Rose go for Rose Florence.

I assume Willow is a definite (I'm not a big fan) - if not, then Claudia Rose Florence is better!

I agree with pp,
Claudia as a first name, then go with whatever for a middle name.

Thank you so much all! I’m still confused but all of your opinions and advice have been very helpful...I don’t know why I find this so tricky! I think it’s because I really want it to be the perfect name for both me and my husband...I’d love to make the decision this weekend so we aren’t choosing between names in the hospital like last time! I live in France and you have to register the name within 2 days so they don’t give you much time!!!!

I like Claudia best and always thought Florence was super-frumpy. I think I'm in a mumsnet minority though!
