On Henrietta?

CheapSausagesAndSpam Mon 27-Nov-17 07:35:00

I don't like it much. It's got a bit of a "snooty" ring to it for want of a better word.

In the same was that Tarquin has.

TinoTheArtisticMouse Mon 27-Nov-17 07:35:36

I really like it. I often dislike the diminutives of names, but Hetty and Hennie are both adorable.

Ellieboolou27 Mon 27-Nov-17 07:36:48

I like classic names but not keen on this one

FaithEverPresent Mon 27-Nov-17 07:44:06

It really depends on the surname. You have to think it through. It does sound like ‘Henry ate a’ if you say it fast. I knew a Henrietta Mann once. Not an easy name to live with! I think there are other names out there which are far nicer.

No

Quartz2208 Mon 27-Nov-17 07:47:54

I like Etta as a nickname

pipilangstrumpf Mon 27-Nov-17 08:13:47

Lovely classic name!

BertrandRussell Mon 27-Nov-17 08:16:22

I prefer Harriet, personally.

But I don't really like it when girls are given names that are diminutives of boy's names........

Love it nn Hettie. It was my back up choice for DD and is now the name of her lovie

MammieBear Mon 27-Nov-17 09:28:08

Gives lots of Nn options on the plus side, it's like Albertine and Wilhelmina.

SuperBeagle Mon 27-Nov-17 09:29:46

Don't like it. It was my great grandmother's name. She was apparently a tyrant, so my association with the name has compounded my dislike for it. grin

teaortequila23 Mon 27-Nov-17 09:35:32

I love it!
I’m sick of people (celebs) naming their kids weird names that are not names and I feel like we should bring back the classics!

❤️ Etta.

grasspigeons Mon 27-Nov-17 10:45:24

Its a nice name. It wouldn't raise any eyebrows, there aren't lots of them, people know how to spell it.
I personally prefer Harriet or Marietta but its not my baby.

TheodoreTheChipmunk Mon 27-Nov-17 14:30:21

Not nice.

Olivelor Mon 27-Nov-17 14:44:47

Henrietta does not sound great to me too. How about Henriella or even Hennie.

bridgetreilly Mon 27-Nov-17 17:05:32

Henrietta is a lovely name. Hettie, Henry, Hennie, Etta - lots of lovely nicknames as well.

Henriella is, well, not a name.

Pemba Mon 27-Nov-17 17:35:07

Don't like it, clunky and a bit stodgy and quite a mouthful. Harriet is much nicer.

Iwantallthesleep Mon 27-Nov-17 18:52:47

I really like Harriet, but a number of my friends already have little Harriet's .
I like the Etta at the end of th name, and girls name with end in ette too (like Bernadette)
Any suggestions would be most welcome smile

Iwantallthesleep Mon 27-Nov-17 18:53:20

*girls names which end in ette

Tinselistacky Mon 27-Nov-17 18:56:18

Ah Henrietta. ..
Our lovely sadly no longer with us chicken!!
Hettie instead?

Iwantallthesleep Mon 27-Nov-17 19:28:00

Ha it does sound a superb name for a feathery friend ! I like hettie, but want a fuller name for her b.c smile

Didntcomeheretofuckspiders Mon 27-Nov-17 19:40:41

Lol Faith I wonder if we knew the same Henrietta Mann? shock

AdaColeman Mon 27-Nov-17 19:42:05

I really like it, much more so than Harriet or Hilary.
I'm not keen on Etta as a nn though, Hettie or Hattie are much sweeter.
