Too American? Assume it's a girl?

Can't make my mind up and dp loves it.

Justbookedasummmerholiday Tue 14-Nov-17 08:42:20

Love it for a boy but we had 2 J names already!!

OliviaTheFox Tue 14-Nov-17 08:42:23

I think Breaking Bad.

Grimmfebruary Tue 14-Nov-17 08:45:12

I think breaking bad too 😫😂

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans Tue 14-Nov-17 08:46:16

If I hear it I think girl. Seeing it written like that I'd think boy.

RJnomore1 Tue 14-Nov-17 08:46:26

I hear that song by joshua whatsisname

It's a nice song

ProfessorPickles Tue 14-Nov-17 08:46:48

I thought Jesse Pinkman too!
However, if you love it get it used. You’ll start associating it with your child in no time and so will everyone else smile

Dp really likes it and it goes well with his last name, I just can't get the 'oh I thought it was a girls name' out my head! It makes me think of cowboys!
Maybe I'll come round on it haha!

notacooldad Tue 14-Nov-17 09:01:23

The only Jessie's I know re male and in their teens and twenty's now.

notacooldad Tue 14-Nov-17 09:03:43

I'm going to have Rick Springfield's 'Jessie's girl' in my head all day now!

SummerRoberts Tue 14-Nov-17 09:04:49

It’s my DP’s favourite boys name. I really really like it. Definitely a boy. And it also makes me think Breaking Bad!

Gingernaut Tue 14-Nov-17 09:07:04

Jesse James

Sorry. No help at all. blush

pipilangstrumpf Tue 14-Nov-17 09:07:19

I know a Jessica nicknamed Jess or Jessy. So girl for me.

user1499786242 Tue 14-Nov-17 09:10:58

Love the name Jesse for a boy but we have a close friend who used it for her little boy
Think it's an amazing name!

fleshmarketclose Tue 14-Nov-17 09:11:19

I love it so would assume boy but I wouldn't use it around here as it's used as a mild rebuke when you have done something stupid "What a Jesse!", "You Jesse!" etc

OliviaTheFox Tue 14-Nov-17 09:12:46

Also I feel like it’s a nickname not a full name. Even tho I do like it.

Fekko Tue 14-Nov-17 09:14:04

'Ya big Jessie' I'm from Scotland, if that adds any perspective.

Grimmfebruary Tue 14-Nov-17 09:15:00

I'm surprised it's getting such a positive reaction, I was expecting a much more negative view on it.

I might come round to it. I do like it, I just find it to be a bit more on the 'unusual' side for where we are. I don't know any Jesses at all!

BernardBlacksHangover Tue 14-Nov-17 09:20:48

I love Jesse for a boy! It would be on my list for dc2, due in January, but like the op, my Dh thinks of it as a girl name and has vetoed sad.

hangingkebab Tue 14-Nov-17 09:23:17

I like it, it makes me think of cowboys.

Grimmfebruary Tue 14-Nov-17 09:50:07

Bernard I'm due February! We have no short list, despite know since September we were having a boy!
Dp has what I would an usual taste in names whereas I prefer more classic, traditional ones! 😂

BernardBlacksHangover Tue 14-Nov-17 09:54:21

Ah cool! See you on the labour ward wink!

MyWhatICallNameChange Tue 14-Nov-17 09:55:43

I know a couple of boy Jesse's and a few girl Jessie's (short for Jessica) so it's not wildly unusual.

Grimmfebruary Tue 14-Nov-17 10:19:17

I know lots of Jessica's with all the nicknames that go with it, just no Jesse's! Luckily we aren't in Scotland so it's not really an insult round here haha.

pipilangstrumpf Tue 14-Nov-17 10:29:53

Jesse sounds like a cute nickname for Jessica - Jess, Jessie.

It doesn’t sound masculine to my ears
