We’ve chosen the name for boy! But can’t decide which way round,

Bertie Thomas
Thomas Bertie

We are going to call him Bertie , but thought for later life he might want a more “normal” name! (Well hubby does) lol I love Bertie so happy either way! Xx

If you're going to call him Bertie whatever then I don't see why you wouldn't use that as the first name - although maybe if he needs a 'Sunday best' name Albert Thomas is a possibility?

Thomas Bertie. Unless the Bertie is going to be short for a name like Albert/Gilbert, etc.

Not lean on Albert, we don’t have any grandads called that or anything to make us like it,

Hubby likes Thomas Bertie , so that seems to be the favourite , I love any!!
😍!

Thanks for your help xx

Bertram Wilberforce Thomas.
Like Bertie Wooster. Grin

If he's going to be "Bertie" (nice, btw) as a standalone rather than a shortening, I don't see why you can't still just use it as his first name...didn't do those on this list any harm.

I vote Bertie Thomas.

Aargh, sorry, OP...I forgot to refresh the page and X-posted.

Well, whichever way round you go for, I like Bertie!

Albert Thomas with Bertie as a nn would be my choice. From the options you’ve given - Thomas Bertie.

If he’s going to be Bertie, then put that first on his bc. Nobody uses middle names so they don’t have to sound good together. More important to have a first name you love!

So Bertie Thomas.

Crikey. The more you think about it, the options grow:

Hubert, Herbert, Cuthbert, Norbert, Egbert, Engelbert...
(Am not passing judgement, just mentioning them ).

Although I personally prefer Thomas, if you’re going to be calling him Bertie then surely that should be his first name?

Congrats on choosing 2 lovely names! Thomas Bertie ‘flows’ better but I agree with pp’s that if you’re going to call him Bertie you should give him that as a first name.

I'd put a full name on his birth certificate ( Albert, Bertram et cetera) then you can always call him Bertie. Bertie is cute for a baby but if he goes on to become a lawyer or other professional he may want a full name to use for work.
