What do you think? Is it too short and simple? Should I just go for Ella? Just love, love, love this name.

BabloHoney Wed 08-Nov-17 11:52:00

Elle is nice on it's own, like Elle Macpherson! Or could be short for Isabelle, Eleanor... if you wanted something longer with Elle as a nickname, but if you love it I would go for Elle on it's own.

Yep lovely

Dd is referred to as Elle most of the time as she hates her name Eloise. I like both tbh.

AnyaMoondial Wed 08-Nov-17 12:06:00

I absolutely love Elle just as it is. Much prefer it to Ella (which is also nice).

Awwlookatmybabyspider Wed 08-Nov-17 12:12:31

Elle's lovely. Ella is bloody horrible and boring, plus. There everywhere.

MothQuandary Wed 08-Nov-17 12:13:21

The first thing I thought when I saw your title was fuckin’ Elle.

Sorry.

millifiori Wed 08-Nov-17 12:13:33

I love it. But then I can watch Legally Blonde on a loop.

Lovely. I like simple names

My friends daughter is Eleanor and everyone calls he Ellie, I love the name and think it gives her options.

PandorasXbox Wed 08-Nov-17 12:28:53

It’s nice. Much better than Ellie.

Elle is a lovely name and imo nicer than Ella (though I do like that too)

17caterpillars1mouse Wed 08-Nov-17 13:06:22

For middle names i'd go for something a bit longer and not starting with a vowel

Elle Louisa
Elle Madeline
Elle Clementine
Elle Violet
Elle Charlotte

Depends on your taste and your surname obviously

Battleax Wed 08-Nov-17 13:09:19

It's nice, but i think I'd probably give her a longer version in case she ever feels the need for something more formal or just to give her the choice.

Eleanor, Ellis or Eloise (known as Elle) are all pretty.

Elle makes a change from Ellie as the ubiquitous NN.

Awwlookatmybabyspider Wed 08-Nov-17 13:19:49

Elle Marie
Elle Martha
Elle Josephine
Elle Natalia
Elle Victoria.
Elle Mairead

❤️ Ella.

Pemba Wed 08-Nov-17 15:09:48

Could cause confusion as it's the French word for 'she'. Well if you're sure she'd never live in a French speaking country I suppose it would be OK. I'm assuming you're pronouncing it as 'ell' one syllable though. I have heard of parents insisting it is pronounced the same as 'ellie' with two syllables though (which doesn't make sense in English).

Ella is lovely, what's wrong with Ella?

user1497545304 Wed 08-Nov-17 16:55:15

Pemba I do like the name Ella, it's just that Elle is less popular, and it just sounds a little prettier to me.

DramaAlpaca Wed 08-Nov-17 20:08:59

I can't get past that it means 'she' in French.

Ella is much nicer.

IVflytrap Wed 08-Nov-17 21:25:42

I really like Elle. I think it sounds sophisticated, plus you can always nickname her Ellie if you want a cuter nickname when she's a child.

For those pointing out that it means "she" in French and suggesting Ella instead... Ella means "she" in Spanish.

Just a thought .. would you pronounce it Ell or Ellee? I teach both pronunciations
