Sounds like a pair of wellies (sorry)

Ropsleybunny Sun 29-Oct-17 18:11:41

Good name for a dog.

Wolfiefan Sun 29-Oct-17 18:12:29

Fine if you see a future as a gladiator! Otherwise? No.

Afternooncatnap Sun 29-Oct-17 18:15:03

I love the name Hunter and would like it for any other boys I have.

Don't worry about shortening. All names will get shortened to somthing you don't like. It's what kids do. Unless it's a short name and then it will get lengthened to somthing your don't like.

Boys normally use surnames for nicknames anyway.

DramaAlpaca Sun 29-Oct-17 18:16:44

Probably.

There are much nicer names around. It doesn't have pleasant associations tbh.

I'm not a fan of surnames as first names generally, but that name just makes me think of someone who likes killing animals.

Cavender Sun 29-Oct-17 18:19:53

It might get shortened to Hun...

Heratnumber7 Sun 29-Oct-17 18:23:09

What if he’s anti-hunting when he grows up? Or thin and weedy?

Ridiculous OP. Sorry.

jayne1384 Sun 29-Oct-17 18:28:46

Okay! Thanks , it’s not one of my favs just trying a few out xx

Paddingtonthebear Sun 29-Oct-17 18:30:34

Hideous sorry.

I know of someone who called their baby daughter Hunter, about 5 years ago. They are from the north and I think hunter for a little girl said in a Geordie accent just sounds terrible.

whoareyoukidding Sun 29-Oct-17 18:38:11

I rather like it.

BernardBlacksHangover Sun 29-Oct-17 19:13:25

I don't really like it; it reminds me of wellies, Gladiators and hunting (obviously)!

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sun 29-Oct-17 20:05:04

I like it too, and I imagine, he would get "H", as a nick name.

SuperBeagle Sun 29-Oct-17 20:19:02

I don't like it.

I wanted to like it, as my favourite author is Hunter S. Thompson. But I used Chenault - a character from his book - as DD1's middle name instead.

It's just not a nice name, and it doesn't have a nice meaning.

Mulch Sun 29-Oct-17 20:31:47

I really like it, I wouldnt shorten it myself. What about hudson

mrsRosaPimento Sun 29-Oct-17 20:33:51

I’d constantly think of someone shooting animals and birds dead.

Pemba Mon 30-Oct-17 05:37:41

Yuck

lizzieoak Mon 30-Oct-17 05:54:43

I’m not keen on last names as first names, even less so when they’re Occupational, and even less so when the occupation is violent.

And in some accent won’t it sound like junta?

icantgetnosleep5 Mon 30-Oct-17 20:23:45

Haha brill!
I like hunter, we are a petite pair tho, and I think hunter might suit a strapping tall maaaaaan , not the hobbit sized ballet dancers we produce !!

Mclaren37 Thu 02-Nov-17 00:55:17

I like Hunter, despite all the negative connotations. It just has a nice sound. Hudson is a really nice, and less controversial, alternative?

Want2bSupermum Thu 02-Nov-17 00:59:07

Love Hunter and know a few boys with the name. I would have named DS Hunter but DH refused to allow it because he thought the name wound be shortened to Cunter.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers Thu 02-Nov-17 01:07:20

Nope. Makes me think of the film Paranormal Activity!

buttercup54321 Fri 03-Nov-17 00:51:06

horrible.

pixie8 Fri 03-Nov-17 02:26:46

I like it!

OkPedro Fri 03-Nov-17 02:32:14

Who in PA was called Hunter?

op please don't call your ds hunter. It's bloody awful. I was watching a tv programme last week and they called their son Wolf..it's the only name worse than hunter
