yeah or nay?
dd1 is Lily Isabelle
dd2 due very soon would be Emilie Charlotte.

Is Lily and Emily ridiculous as both end on 'y' sound and have a 'i' in the middle? dh is french and names often end with i.e. rather than a.

Am i mad to consider having two sisters called emilie and lily?

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:32:52

age difference is 4 years if that matters.

TidyDancer Sun 29-Oct-17 11:34:41

Could you go for Charlotte Emilie? Lily and Emilie are both lovely names but I think too similar for me.

StinkPickle Sun 29-Oct-17 11:37:41

way too similiar I'm afraid. Sorry as they're nice names.

Lily and Emilie are lovely together. I wouldn't let the similar sounds put you off, it's not immediately striking as a rhyme like Molly and Holly for instance. Also is Emilie pronounced differently from Emily? If it's pronounced Emilia then even better.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:42:03

emilie would be pronounced the same as emily but is the french version due to dh. thanks

See I think it would still be OK. Not sure why as Millie and Lily wouldn't work, but Emilie is just different enough I think. Something to do with the emphasis being on the Eh so it's Ehm-ly and Lily.

I know siblings Emily, Lily, Holly and Ivy!!

Awwlookatmybabyspider Sun 29-Oct-17 11:55:15

I think Millie rather than Emilie would would work. I can't really give a reason why or how about

Awwlookatmybabyspider Sun 29-Oct-17 11:55:46

Or Emma.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:56:21

there is defiantly a theme santa smile all lovely names. Do you think it works? Or too similar?

Santawontbelong Sun 29-Oct-17 11:57:06

Too cheesy imo!!

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:57:11

Emilie is a family name and dh likes it better than emma.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:57:33

But emma and lily is a beautiful combination.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:58:45

I know two sisters called Emma and Emily and have always thought that is too similar.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 11:59:45

How about Lily and Sophie? Although we love emilie and there is a family connection.

Awwlookatmybabyspider Sun 29-Oct-17 12:01:09

Lily and Sophie are gorgeous together

Lily2007 Sun 29-Oct-17 12:05:30

I think they are fine but in UK she will constantly be having it mis-spelt as Emily.

I prefer Elise Charlotte but if Emilie is a family name that's difficult. Lots of Emily's around but not necessarily an issue.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 12:06:16

How about
Sophie Emilie (dd2)
Lily Isabelle (dd1)?

Lily2007 Sun 29-Oct-17 12:07:38

I prefer that.

boooooooostoncalling Sun 29-Oct-17 12:07:44

Sophie Emilie or Sophia Emilie if this combo?

thanks smile

Lily2007 Sun 29-Oct-17 12:09:33

I prefer Sophie as it sounds softer.

boooooooostoncalling Mon 30-Oct-17 09:16:47

DH is not happy with Sophie sad

I have the feeling that Lily and Emilie is just too much. back to square one, who'd have thought choosing a name can be so tricky.
