Do you feel Alivia is too common? Can't decide on girl's name!

Do you mean Olivia?

Spell it Zoë or she will spend her entire life correcting it.

I've seen Alivia now on baby lists instead of Olivia. I like it better than Olivia but sound pretty much the same.

If you mean Olivia then it is very popular

If you mean Alicia then it's not very popular but Alice is

If you actually mean Alivia then pick a different name

Of the names you said I like Zoë with that spelling best

There's actually the spelling Alyvia too.

She will have to say “Olivia but spelt with an ‘A’ all her life” Sad

If you go for Alivia or Zoey, she will spend her life correcting the spelling of others! (Although I think Zoey is more common in the US - wasn't President Bartlet's daughter Zoey in the West Wing?)

Olivia is a lovely name. It's popular - probably because of that. Zoe is nice too, though - but if you're in the U.K., I would spell it conventionally.

Sounds like a silly made up name, as does Kyra.

Zoe is better than Zoey.

Yeah, I never thought of that.

Are you particularly keen on different spellings, OP?

It’s just that, as PP have said, spelling Olivia with an A will cause problems for your DD for the rest of her life, which seems an unnecessary thing to do.

Alivia is like a cross between 'naproxin' (Aleve) and 'Olivia' gone sideways.
Zoey is very American in its (wrong) spelling. I'm American. I can honestly say that we mutilate perfectly decent spellings of words and names. Stick with Zoe.
Kyra's ok. It's a bit 'Tyra' but if you like it, why not?

Congratulations by the way.

Olivia is number 2 on Most popular U.S. baby girl names so I feel like it's just too common but I really like it....

kyra or Zoe

Olivia is popular because it's a nice name.

I quite like Kyra (I knew one a long time ago). What about Lyra?

Zoe is lovely too.

I like Zoe spelled this way. It doesn’t need the y on the end.

KoalaD · 24/10/2017 12:19

Zoe. Spelled like that.

Don't like Kyra. Alivia is weird spelling. Olivia is overused.

I like Kyra and Zoey - I don't mind the spelling with a Y.

I agree with the others about naming your Alivia and the spelling of it being explained as she grows up.

I just met a girl recently called Alethea (pronounced A-Lee-Thee-Ah)
It sounds similar to Alivia and Olivia so I think that would make a great alternative.

I like Kyra the best, I think.

Assume you're in the US as you mention the US baby name lists so I don't see an issue with spelling Zoey with a y as it's more frequently used there.

Love Olivia, I don't like Alivia. I don't see the point, I just feel like it's people being deliberately difficult.
I love Zoë, not a fan of it with the Y.
I like Kaia, not keen on Kyra. Sorry!

Zoey reminds me of Zooey, which is a boy's name.

Alivia doesn't sound right if it's said the way it's written. If you're saying it the same as Olivia I don't see the point in having a weird spelling. If you like Olivia don't let others being called it put you off- it's doesn't make it any less special.

I like Zoe (spelled like that)

Not a fan of Kyra.

Quite like all of them, but only spelt Olivia, Zoe and Kyra.

If popularity bothers you, Kyra is your best bet.
