I am thinking about using this name for my son, I love its simplicity and the fact that it's not too common. My other options are Matthew (but not keen on Matt) or Thomas (don't love Tom). The middle name will be James. Can I get your thoughts on the name, is it likely to date? What do you imagine an Evan to be like? tia.

I think it's lovely, really strong name! And the only famous Evan I can think of is Evan Dando and he is really cool :) our son who's 3 is called Ewan, similar and we get lots of compliments on it, we loved that it was a bit different but not too out there. Good luck deciding x

I love it & much prefer it to Matthew & Thomas. Evan James sounds lovely. I know 2 little Evans. One is a baby & the other is an adorable, dark curly haired little 3 year old.

Good name.
Reminds me of the guy on news night but he’s not sufficiently famous to make that an issue and he’s pretty cool anyway

Yes, Evan James. I know one, who's 6 years old.

I have a three year old, blonde haired, blue eyed Evan and I love it Wink

He’s the only little Evan I know - it’s a strong name, no bad nicknames or shortenings, easy to pronounce and for the name snobs Hmm Dr Evan sounds 100% haha

I like it, but think it sounds a little soft, or dare I say 'feminine'.

I only know one, he's 10

I like it. I know 2, one who must be in his mid 60s and one who is 9. The younger one is Evan James, and known as “Ev” to his mates.

I had a fling with an American guy called Evan. Nothing soft or feminine about that man!

My grandad's name but unfortunately we couldn't use it due to another name in the family. I love it.

Thanks for all the positive replies, it is something which has been floating around in my head so it's really nice to hear other people's thoughts. MOLLY17 I am in the north west, I don't think it's very popular here.
