Hi guys needing help to pick the loveliest of these baby names for my DD without having to reveal to friends and family. LOVE Posie, prob my favourite, but afraid it's too cutesy for an adult!? Isla getting quite common? Aurelia, also spelt Oraylia, worried it's a bit of a mouthful and that her name would often be shortened, pretty variations are Orla or Orleia. Help!! Which is your favourite and why? No negative comments please I love all of these choices. Thankyou :) Xx

I've got nothing nice to say about Posie.

Aurelia is by far the nicest but only if spelt properly.

I like Honor (which I think is spelt without the U). Posie can be a nn for Josephine which could give more options when older.

I like Honor. But the spelling is Honor not honour, for a name.

Honestly ! none of them work for me.
I would go back to the drawing board and try again

I absolutely love Posie, but if I used it I'd spell it Posy.

Posie is nice. Also peony. Isla is popular. Honour is equally fab. Prefer aurora

Posie is awful. Isla and Aurelia are the nicest on your list.

Aurelia looks beautiful written down but I always think it isn't as pretty when said. Still a nice name when written properly.

Posie is awful, much too cutesy for an adult. If you used a flower name Posie would probably be a good childhood nickname, though.

Isla is nice, definitely a popular name atm though if that bothers you.

Honor (written that way) is fine but there is a fictional character called Ross O'Carroll Kelly in Ireland - his daughter Honor is an absolute witch of a child, complete bully. It's a nice name otherwise but for me and many other Irish people, shaking that association off is hard!

Of these Isla would probably be my first choice, then Honor - assuming you've no plans to move to Ireland!

I love Honor. But it has to be spelt like that.

Not keen on the others.

I have a Josephine who goes by Posey. Which is fine, as she's 2. Later she could be Jo, Josie or Seph as well as use her full name

Agree with PPs about the spelling of Honor and Aurelia

My favourite is Aurelia but I agree it's a bit a mouthful! I would definitely use the spellings Posy and Honor.

I love:

Honor (not Honour)

Orla (not Aurelia)

Josephine NN Posie

I know a Rosalie nn Posy :) it could also be a nickname for Primrose. If Posy is too babyish then as she grows she could become a Rose. I like it.

Isla is nice but very popular. So I'll say Aurelia

Adore Posy but only from Josephine (gets away from the cutesy problem).

Isla very common now - they're nearly all under six but it's having a massive boom here. That's because it's a good name, mind you!

Orla is a completely different name from Aurelia, though I'd expect the latter to be pn "ow-ray-leah" so if you don't then you might like to rethink whether mispronunciation would be annoying to you. I like both Orla (esp sp Orlaith) and Aurelia.

I agree Honor must be spelt without the U. It's just one of those things. I don't know how I feel about it. Honour is an odd concept nowadays and virtue names can be difficult to wear.

My recommendation would be Josephine nn Posy. I'd prefer the -y spelling over -ie as I think it's more authentic.

Love Honor, but spelt like this (which is the standard spelling for the name) - think it’s strong, elegant and not too frilly.

Posie is dreadful imo - flimsy, cutesy and just doesn’t age well. Aurelia is nice but feels a bit ‘much’ for me and Isla is pretty but way too popular.

My pick of these would definitely be Honor.

Like Posy, Honor or Aurelia very much. Can't stand names being mis-spelt and think it looks half-educated so def not Oraylia.

Isla is way too popular and nothing like as nice as the other.

Aurelia is lovely.
I like Posy, as a shortening for Josephine, another lovely name.
I like Isla, but not Honor.

Posie all the way. Isla is very popular.

Honor (without the U)

Love Isla and was first choice before my son was born. Had gone off it by the time my daughter came along though due to huge spike in popularity and worries about it 'dating'.

Love Honor!

I prefer Honor, spelled like that. Aurelia is also quite nice. I did know someone in France called Aurelie, but I'd worry about "orally" jokes for that. I don't like Isla. Posy, as PP have said, might work for a nickname.
