Elisabetta Wren? Thoughts please!

Still mulling over names with one week to go..! I think I'm loving this (though may change my mind in the morning). It has the Italian connection and DP's grandmother was Elizabeth. Was thinking Etta or Betty for nn.

Elisabetta is a prettier and fresher take on Elizabeth.

I don't particularly like Elisabetta but it's not me that's going to use it! I think Elizabeth Wren is a lot better personally.

Elisabetta is nice. I think Italians would use Lisa or Isabetta for short.

Don't like Wren much, don't get the sudden popularity. I had never heard of it until a couple of years ago, and then only on Mumsnet. The sound - 'ren' - is meh. The bird is a small drab looking creature, isn't it? Still as a middle name it's inoffensive.

I think both names, and the combination, are really pretty.

Elisabetta also sounds like a SERIOUS name, and I mean that in a good way.

Being completely honest I prefer Elizabeth to Elisabetta, but I do think Elisabetta is a beautiful name

It's lovely. I wish I'd heard of the name Wren. My grandad used to call my grandma "Jenny Wren".

Italians would use Betta as a short form. It's a very old fashioned name, I've only ever taught one and she was named after a grandmother too, as is very common here.
It doesn't go with Wren (quirky, new agey, sounds modern American influenced)

It's nice. Elisabetta is quite frilly but also sounds serious enough I think, plus lots of lovely nickname options. I really like Wren; not sure they fit terribly well together as they're pretty much opposite ends of the girls' name spectrum to me (frilly, traditional, romantic, exotic vs short, trendy, androgynous, modern) but the sound and flow is nice.

I like it - think I slightly prefer Elizabeth Wren
but like Betty as a nn so other spelling also good... in my head a bit more betty boop than old lady (which is a good thing )
would make a change from all the 'el/ellie names' have also known a few Beths and they have all been lovely - also know couple of Elizabeths with no nn so it can be done!

I love wrens. I'd say tiny, characterful and delicate, rather than small and drab.

I'm honestly not sure about Elizabetta... it should be nice, but it sounds like the name of a 19th century housemaid in a novel.

Thank you everyone! I would probably go with Ettie or Etta! I see what some people mean about Wren..but like the flow of the R sound!

Rose is nice, I wouldn't say it's frilly, but there are certainly a lot of girls with Rose as a middle name. If that bothers you and you want something with an 'R' sound, there's Ruth? Rachel?

I think it's the r sounds after the a ending that make it not work - it all runs together into one word elizabetterose or elisabettaren when you say it! Being honest I think another start sound would be much better. Eg:

Elizabeth Rose is beautiful
Or Elisabetta Camille

I also agree with Jooni about Elisabetta and Wren not being at all from the same camps. I think something continental and feminine is best after Elisabetta
