It’s everywhere.

Like it a lot. I don't think it's that popular. No. 47 in England in 2016, according to the ONS. So moderately popular but not overwhelmingly so.

Really like it, Eli for short!

It's everywhere at the moment, it will be the new Jack or Alfie once they get to school. I also don't like it in full or Eli as a nickname. So it's a no from me but then it's not my baby.

I quite like it. I’ve heard Eli a lot recently, but not Elijah. Although I suppose the Elis could have Elijah as their full name.

It's on a pretty big upswing, as a lot of biblical names are (Noah, Isaac, Ezra, Jacob, etc.)

They are nice names though. I love Elijah.

Ahh mixed response so far.. We haven't got our heart set on it but it's a name we do both like.
Thanks for the responses

I love it and it's my top name if we finally get a BFP and it's a boy.

Really like it, it was on our shortlist for ds but we knew quite a few babies called it, seems to be quite popular around here and we thought it might become like the new Noah, and so went with Jonah.

quite honestly pretty sick of bible names, they are a bit samey.

I looooooooove it!

We have an 8 year old Elijah. He's called 'Elijah' by everyone - never been called Eli but it's equally as beautiful. I can't tell you how exquisite he is.

At the moment where we live (Scotland), we've not met any others. I'm now a wee bit worried that in 10 years time we'll be over run with Elijah's and everyone will be rolling their eyes at the mere mention of his name.

Sigh...

'Elijahs' not 'Elijah's' Blush

I like it. It makes me think of an actor with long hair- there's an Elijah actor isn't there??

I have an 8 year old Elijah we always call him Elijah. It's a big name for a baby but it really suits him now. He really stresses the E when you ask him his name, like E lijah. I pronounce it with a soft J but others pronounce it with a hard with J.

Report
Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 12/10/2017 21:09

You pronounce it with a soft J?

Report
maldivemoment · 12/10/2017 21:15

Aw, MyseetAudrina, snap! Except we say it with a hard 'j' as in 'juice' although plenty of others, including his friends and teachers, use a soft 'j'

How can you not love an 8 year old Elijah? Every time I hear his name I smile!

I have an Elijah. He’s a funny little boy. Nearly 3. Loves wellies and dinosaurs... he started calling himself Lijey...

I might be biased but it’s a brilliant name

It's too biblical for me.

I prefer the similar male Biblical name Elisha, but that would probably be mistaken for a girls name nowadays.
