Rosa or Rosanna?

Just that really...which do you prefer? Do you think Rosanna will get shortened to Rosie?

Ours has Rosa as a middle name. I prefer that to Rosanna. I think for me Rosanna has connotations of the American TV show Roseanne (sp?).

I would imagine Rosanna would get shortened to Rosa or Anna before Rosie.

I prefer Rosa, but I do like Rosanna too. Both more interesting than just Rose, or Rosie.

Rosa is so pretty...one of my favourites.

I know several, ages 3ish, 5 and late teens. "Rosie" doesn't seem to have become a semi-NN for any of them...so it's not necessarily inevitable!

Rosanna in its full form is nice. Yes, "Rosie" "Anna" (even "Zanna"/ "Ro", I suppose?) are potential shortenings, but none of them a given.

Once met a (Portuguese) baby Rosalia [parents pronounced it Roh-ZAH-lee-uh, rather than Roh-zuh-LEE-uh]. Quite liked the sound of that.

My sister is Rosanna. She's only ever been Rosy.

I know two Rosanna's. One gets Rose, Rosie and Aunty Zanna depending on who it is. The other was only ever Rosie as a baby but when the sibling came along it was Zaza and it stuck.

I think Rosanna is a bit less popular these days, so if you're looking something more unique, I'd go with that.

Rosa. I'm really not a fan of Rosanna.
Yet I love the name Rose and Anna and they go beautifully together, but I just don't like it, strange.

Like both. Either could be called Rosie TBH but I think it's more likely with Rosanna. I think I prefer Rosanna overall and I like the NN Rosie.

I know 2 Rosannas. One gets Rosie and one is always Rosanna. I think anything beginning Ros can be shortened to Rosie but it depends if the name bearer wants it.
Both are beautiful names.
