It's another girl whoop whoop! OH (who had to be prodded for months to reveal any preference for our 1st) says he loves the name Fern. 1st dd is Nancy surname J 2 syllables and middle name (family honour) will be Angelica. What do you think and how would you spell it? Oh and we cant have Angelica as a first name! Cheers in advance.

Congratulations I love the name Fern. We went for all J names with our first 3 and that has gotten very confusing even for us! The eldest is now 12. Jasmine, Jacob and Joseph but with our 4th we went for Molly. I like simple traditional names really and I think Fern is very pretty.

Fern Angelica sounds lovely, OP.

Both the nature theme and the syllable count.

Greenery, woodland, fresh air...and Angels, traditional medicine, edible decoration, ingredients in Gin...go for it Smile

Fern is a really nice, unusual but classy name

Fern is gorgeous, sweet but strong and unusual. I'd spell it as you have. Sounds fab with Nancy!

It's nice, and of course it should be spelled 'Fern'.

Would her initials be FAJ?

Fearne is how I'd spell it but Fern is fine, it reminds me of Charlotte's Web so lovely connotations come to mind.

Initials FAJ...

Alas FAJ sounds a bit too much like VAG to me, but then again how many people broadcast their middle names?

Sorry to sound stupid, but what's the problem with FAJ initials?

VAJ might cause comments, but why should FAJ?

Report
ThaliaLuxurySpa · 26/09/2017 07:45

X-post...Oh, well that answers my question.

FAJ really doesn't automatically make me think VAJ, though!
I think you're safe, OP.

Fern is nice - spell it like that with no extra As and Es in it.

Blimey that was easier than last time! Thank you for the huge love for Fern. If the worst thing is FAJ as a tenuous link to VAG I'm very happy! You'll think I'm potty but she feels like a Fern already Grin

Lovely name. If the FAJ thing bothers you, you could add another middle name - Fern Angelica Louise J----.

DS3 would have been a Fearne or Fern if a DD. Beautiful and uncommon name I think
