We're finally down to a reasonable amount of names on our shortlist
We're not looking to add any others to the list

We've got a while to decide yet (due January) so I'm not in any rush to find 'the one' just wanted to see which was people's favourites and if there's any glaringly obvious connections or connotations from these names that I'm missing?

The names are -

Strike Emily off. Emilys are ten a penny where I live. There are two in my DD's class and I know at least another two slightly younger ones.

I like Harriet and Lydia best. Harriet was my choice for dad but dh vetoed it sad. Erin and Emily are fairly popular these days. I would expect an April to be born in April, not January! But maybe that's just me!

Those are all nice. I like them in the following order:

Harriet and Lydia I absolutely adore.

The others are fine, but they don't make my heart sing.

Dd not dad! I don't think Harriet would have suited my dad...

Liadain Sat 16-Sep-17 19:31:13

I've put them in order of preference.

1. April - love this name! One of my favourites.

2. Emily - nice name. Super popular right now tbh. As a teacher a lot of Sophies, Emilys etc tend to blend into one as I know so many.

3. Lydia - very pretty. Not for me but a lovely name.

4. Erin - ok. I think of it as a very American name. Wouldn't use it myself.

5. Harriet - nope. Really dislike this one.

Mollie85 Sat 16-Sep-17 19:31:14

April - lovely
Erin - lovely
Lydia - gorgeous

Emily - was v popular for about 10 years I think. I'm 36 and know roughly 16 from age 3 to my peer group grin
Harriet - meh. I can't think of anything positive or negative to say about this name, so just... meh

Good luck and how exciting flowers

I like Lydia and Erin.

My name is on your list and I hate it as I always found it 'boring' growing up

Is my order. Really like both Lydia and Harriet though.

Lydia is ghastly! Lydia Bennett!
Harriet and Erin are great.
Emily is nice but so overused.
April I dislike, but anyway makes no sense for a January girl. Conception names are icky!

I like Erin the best.

Harriet or Lydia

wetsnow Sat 16-Sep-17 19:49:43

My dd is Lydia. Not met any others.
Definitely Lydia. smile

AccrualIntentions Sat 16-Sep-17 19:50:32

Lydia and Erin are both lovely names.

NoCapes Sat 16-Sep-17 19:52:40

Mrs I've no idea who Lydia Bennet is
And I didn't even realise April would be a conception name (would it?) it would be in honour of both of our Grandmothers who's birthdays are both in April

NoCapes Sat 16-Sep-17 19:53:19

Loving all the Lydia love, its my current favourite smile

17caterpillars1mouse Sat 16-Sep-17 19:57:21

I like them all but I'm order of preference...

MrsHathaway Sat 16-Sep-17 20:05:51

Harriet April flows nicely (assuming not a T- surname) and combines a gorgeous first name with an elegant, meaningful middle name.

lljkk Sat 16-Sep-17 20:07:37

I like Harriet best because it has the strongest sounds in it.
Also a host of nice nicknames.
Nothing wrong with the others.
