Middle name for Wilfred

Our lovely little boy was born on Friday. We didn't know the sex but were pretty settled on the boy name from very early on.

Trouble is, we haven't given much (if any!) thought to a middle name (I obsessed about girls names instead because I couldn't find one I really liked!).

We definitely want him to have a middle name and don't have any family names we'd like to use. Our surname is 2 syllable and begins with 'Cl'.

We're vaguely considering Augustus atm... It does sound really fabulous but a bit worried it's a bit much (also is WAC bad for initials?)

Any ideas?

Congratulations OP!

Michael popped into my head, for some reason.

SerfTerf · 21/08/2017 21:36

One syllable would probably work best TBH.

My first thought was James, but doesn't quite fit your style from

My dad's a Wilfred! His full name is William Frederick Engelbert. If that helps!

arnoldbarnacles · 21/08/2017 22:21

Wilfred Aubrey.

Don't worry about the initials. WAC is fine. Maybe even kinda cool!

I like this sort of thread and really want to be helpful with a suggestion but all my brain keeps saying is Tsonga. Because of the tennis player jo-Wilfred Tsonga Grin

I can see why WAC might not be desirable initials, what about Benedict?

notangelinajolie · 22/08/2017 02:03

You need a strong single syllable name to go with Wilfred.

Wilfred John sounds good.

Congratulations Flowers

llangennith · 22/08/2017 02:45

You've already lumbered him with the initials WC!

OkPedro · 22/08/2017 03:08

I just can't imagine calling a newborn Wilfred or calling out Wilfred in the playground/school yard. Even Fred is better than Wilfred.

clevername · 22/08/2017 07:33

Thanks guys. He's definitely Wilfred. We really like it and it really suits him. If he hates it when he's older, the name offers him loads of options so we're really happy with it. And I don't think WC is an issue... Hardly anyone uses the phrase anymore, especially the younger generations.

Thanks for all the middle name suggestions. Re the WAC thing... I've just Googled it. Do you think this is an actual thing that's in use?! Or is it one of those obscure (i.e made up) Urban Dictionary references?! Because if people do really use it like this, that is much more of a problem than WC!

Well, I am a member of a sports team and the younger members of the team do use it. Not in spoken speech though, only when texting/snap-chatting etc...

soupforbrains · 22/08/2017 07:52

Sorry that sounds a bit weird. I mean that I don't have teenage kids or nieces/nephews so I have no kids of my own to ask but that the teens I know though the sport do use it. I tealise it sounds like a totally random mention of a team ha. Sorry.

whifflesqueak · 22/08/2017 08:00

That's okay Pedro, you don't have to.

I probably "can't imagine" calling out whatever you called your offspring, and since I'll never have to it's an irrelevant comment.

Can you tell I have a lovely little Wilfred? Grin

Congratulations op, I gave my Wilfred the middle name that my brother, father and grandfathers forever'n'ever have had. It doesn't particularly go, so not much help to you!

MammieBear · 22/08/2017 08:08

You could use Gustav if worried about initials but personally I don't think it matters much go with Augustus and it has the lovely tie that he was born in August.

Carmichaela · 22/08/2017 08:10

Wilfred Anthony

MiniMaxi · 22/08/2017 08:32

I like Wilfred Augustus and I don't think WAC is a bit deal really

If you're worried you could have a second middle name?
