...what else might I like?

I am sold on Ambrose for our baby due imminently, but DH not quite sure - just wondering what else there might be out there we haven't thought of.

Any suggestions?

I always recommend www.nymbler.com in these times. It finds names similar to ones you already like, and you can keep refining your preferences.

Or there's Emrys, the Welsh form of Ambrose.

I really like Ambrose though I feel it more of an older persons name (not a bad thing - my dcs have traditonal names)

Do you like Francis ?
Reuben
Issac
Dominic

Well, Benedict is lovely.

I also like Toby and Tobias.

Had we had more sons those would have been my choice, along with Nicholas.

Ambrose is a great name - strong and classic.

I once met a Benedict who got teased with
Bendy Dick Blush

That's put me off the name!

I will check out Nymbler, thanks for the tip off Parrot. I like Francis but I have a BIL called that and love Dominic - it was a contender til we realised how bad it sounds with the surname!

You're right *grufalo" bendy dick is bad...

Maybe DH will be persuaded Ambrose is the one!

squoosh - Wigbert?! I've never heard of that name :O

It's a bit left field isn't it? 😅

Ambrose is a monk's name and there was a monk called Wigbert so I thought I'd slide it in there!

Namechangeblock · 21/08/2017 23:36

Wigbert is a monk too far for me! Grin

Why would you like Ambrose

Report
parrotseatemall · 22/08/2017 06:55

Because it's a nice well-established name?

I know one adult Ambrose who wears it well, and it also makes me think of Cousin Ambrose from My Cousin Rachel.

Report
Namechangeblock · 22/08/2017 07:41

Because it's an unusual name (so shouldn't be three in a class) but also a long established name and not younique. I like the sound of it, and it goes with my surname. Also I just like it in the nebulous, unexplainable way that many people feel about names...
