So we have settled on Ivy for a girl but struggling with middle names. Surname is 2 syllables beginning with L.

I really like ivy rose but didn't know if it's to much like a garden! I seem to be leaning towards 1 syllable names!

I don't like ivy as a name (sorry!) it's just I don't like short names.

A) because they are hard to match to middle names

B) because they rarely suit surnames

If I had to chose though, I would say ivy-rose, however ok the birth certificate I would write Everlyn Rosemary, aka ivy rose.

Winebomb I'm an abby and I love having a short name. I dont see the point in long names just for the birth certificate. Their name is their name, not to be shortened. We have a florence who has always been florence. don't actually like anything more than 2 syllables for names. And ivy really suits our surname.

Some lovely suggestions thankyou. Our surname is lots of l's and o's so try to stear clear of anything to similar as gets a bit of a toungue twister. How about Ivy wren?

Ivy Rose is the name we have chosen so I'm obviously biased Smile Although we are having it as two first names, not hyphenated, rather than a first and middle name. I like the softer sound Ivy Rose has than just Ivy on it's own.
