It's sometime around now isn't it? I love poring through it. (Nerd alert!)

Me too! It is usually about the 15th August you're right.

Last year was late, 2nd September. Hoping it's sooner this year!

Do you think it will have changed massively from 2015? (I hope you're all fellow name geeks😂)

Report
Floellabella · 17/08/2017 20:48

Yeah I think it will have, at least there will be notable movement of some names.

Damn it!

Do you think the 'unofficial' lists will be pretty much accurate? Such as babycentre?

Not in the slightest! Lots of those are based on pageviews, and people are much more likely to look at the page for a name than to actually use it for their child!

Oh interesting!! I'm desperate to see this list lol

I'm desperate too! Want to see if dd's name has gone up or down.

I think this will be the year Jack
and Isabel start to slide down, only to return to the upper reaches of the chart when we're all dead Grin

I am trying to find the lists for the last few years and all I can find is the articles and facts relating to the lists? Where will I find just the top 100 written down?

Report
Awandinmypocket · 17/08/2017 21:18

Pretty sure DD has gone up :(

Report
Awandinmypocket · 17/08/2017 21:24

Found it after much confusion!lol

I use dark greener names to compare. I'm desperate to know if my 8 month olds name is still rising!

Report
Imnotatypicalsausage · 19/08/2017 15:36

Dark greener uses the ons data x

Report
Shemozzle · 20/08/2017 01:46

Yeah I know, but I look from there rather than downlod the entire ONS publication and to check differences from the previous year.

Report
MommaGee · 20/08/2017 02:00

Dark Greener only goes up to 2015. 273 other people used my sons name time year he was born. How cheeky

Argh! Why is it not til 20th Sept now?! That's too late for me to check before naming this DC!

Oh! I'm due to have DD by ELCS on the 19 September. Guess I could read through the list whilst in recovery. Smile

I have a relative who works for ONS, who told me back when the date first changed to August/September time (it used to be March I think), that it's because of having to prioritize the stat releases.

Baby name data is not deemed to be high priority, so was pushed back to later in the year.
