Baby names

Lilah, Lola or Luna

Opinions? Had a much longer list which I don't think contained any of these but they've suddenly become front runners. Luna is dh favourite, Lola is dds suggestion and Lilah is mine as always wanted Lily but far too popular now. Seems like as they are quite similar (well all start with L and two syllables) one of these is meant to be despite not being any of our original choices!!

Lilah is best although I'd spell it Lila? Lilah autocorrects to lilac for me, but Lila is recognised as a name.

Luna always sounds like loony to me, and I'm afraid I can't hear Lola without singing "she was a showgirl" which I'm sure is annoying.

Lilah is a gorgeous name! Smile I also like Luna but not Lola I'm afraid Smile

I like Lola best, Lilah least.

Lila is better, but still liable to be misspelt/mispronounced constantly.

I quite like the Lilah spelling. Figured it's like Delilah without the De bit so more obvious pronunciation?! Rather than Lill - a

Lola is my least fave but dd is adamant (thank you CBeebies Charlie and Lola!)

What about Laela?

Lilah is the nicest, definitely. And I like it with the 'h' too. The Lila spelling is also nice, but, like you say, you might get people saying it 'Lill-a' or 'Lee-la'.

I like Lola too, but like Relax, I can't help thinking of 'she was a showgirl'. Also the Kinks' song where Lola 'walked like a woman, but talked like a man'.

Luna has a nice sound, but I'm afraid it does make me think of 'looney' too, though that's probably outdated.

Ok so Lola is out what a shame

More opinions on Lilah and Luna very gratefully received. Do you know any/many? I don't mind the Lovegood connection as I love HP and she's a cool character.

I have a feeling Luna is going to be more and more popular now.

(Side note - Chrissy Teigen/John Legend's daughter is Luna. Chrissy is my abso girl crush)

I like Lila. What about Lula?

Lana? Leila? (But I'm never sure exactly how the last one is pronounced - is it lay-la?)

Then there's Lene pronounced Lay-na. Like Lene Marlin. Or Lene Lovich if anyone else can remember that far!

I know a Delilah known as Lilah. It is a beautiful name. I think it is really pretty. Luna sounds much harsher to me. Too close to Looney for me too.
We also know Leia, Leah, Lola, Layla all born 5 years ago!

Love Luna. Lola is ok. Don't like Lilah. I liked a pps suggestion of Laela(?sp) as well.

As Lilah she'll be forever correcting people's spelling. Lola for me is such a stripper, or dog name.

I don't actually like any of the three sorry, Lilah and Lola are quite samey in our area and think they are just 'nice' names.

I love Lana (Lah-na) or Laina (Lay-na), which are the same kind but slightly different.

Lilah is my favourite, though I'd also spell it Lila.

Quite like Lola. Not keen on Luna personally.

I also really like Leila (my preferred spelling but Laila and Layla would be options too).

My 5 month old is Lila. It was a bit of a late contender so I didn't do any research and I've since learned that the most popular spelling is Lyla. Not sure I would have used it as I prefer the look of Lila but we have gotten some mispronunciation. A nurse recently called her Lee-la and my neighbour, who I don't think has seen it written down, constantly calls her Layla. She is number 4 and with all the others I was so careful to pick names that were easy to spell and pronounce, poor Lila will think I just gave up!

I also loved Lola but DH couldn't get over the transvestite association! I do sometimes think Lola might have been better but people are so complementary when I tell them her name and I do think it might suit an adult more (if that makes sense!)

So bottom line, Lila/Lyla/Lilah, a beautiful name!

I like Luna but it was a common dogs name when I lived in Latin America so I didn't consider too long for my dd. Stay in the uk and you should be fine.

I like Lilah best and agree with you OP that this spelling is clearest for pronunciation

I quite like Luna too

I'm not keen on Lola but mainly because the only one I know is annoying brat!

Can't believe Lilah is in the running as a baby name. My Aunt Lilah is 83 and the name has always seemed old-fashioned to me. She's an eccentric old dear to say the least!

BUT, when I think of it as a name for a little girl, it suddenly sounds different - sweet and almost floral, like lilac. Makes me think of how it must have sounded to my grandmother when she chose it for her baby.

I vote Lilah!
