Due in January so it's a surprise, do you like these names?

I live in quite a working class area so worried they might be bullied, although hopefully sould be moving before starting school.

And what else might I like?

Flora is nice although she might be called Flo so as long as you're happy with that shortening. Wilfred...Sorry but definitely not. Will or William are much better.

Buntysoven · 25/06/2017 23:41

Love both names especially Wilf(red)

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/06/2017 23:42

They do sound like very studiously old-fashioned names. Like you've gone out of your way to have the most old-fashioned you can.

So:

Bert
Ivy
Mo
Joyce

That style of thing?

HillaryWinshaw · 25/06/2017 23:43

Sorry OP, I dislike Flora and hate Wilfred.

clevername · 25/06/2017 23:53

I love both. A lot.
Wilfred is top of my list if my impending 2nd born (due August) is a boy.
Flora would be up there for a girl if it hadn't already been taken by someone in the family.

Jaytee38 · 25/06/2017 23:58

I love flora . I had a great aunty Flo (no jokes ta) but she was florabella.

adifferentnameforthis · 26/06/2017 00:09

I love flora but it is the name of margarine

notangelinajolie · 26/06/2017 00:09

Adore Wilfred. Flora is awful.

Sophronia · 26/06/2017 00:49

Like both a lot.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 26/06/2017 01:08

I think Flora is gorgeous Smile Wilfred sounds nice, but I really hate Wilf as a shortened version and it would probably get used a lot.

reuset · 26/06/2017 02:14

Yes, both sound fine to me.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 26/06/2017 03:12

Love Flora
Hate Wilfred

flibberdee · 26/06/2017 03:58

Wilfred is AWFUL. Please don't do that to a child.
Could you imagine meeting (an adult) someone tomorrow who shook your hand and said "nice to meet you, I'm Wilfred". Arghhhhhh

Flora, on the other hand, is gorgeous.

figandvanillacandle · 26/06/2017 07:10

Well, obviously I can, because I like the name!

I'm not as keen as William for some reason, and people tend to say Will-yum here.

Joyce and Mo and Bert aren't really my style. Grin

I also like Charlotte for a girl but I'm struggling with boys.

We love the name Wilfred and actually used it for our beloved Border Terrier. We have 2 girls but my perfect boys name of all time is Arthur. Maybe you like it too OP?

figandvanillacandle · 26/06/2017 07:16

Not as keen sorry ... not sure why.

OP posts:
greendale17 · 26/06/2017 07:23

Not keen on either especially Wilfred

Thatextrainch · 26/06/2017 07:23

They're fine. They're going to be at school with Lily, Archie, Freddie and Evies . All granny chic names

figandvanillacandle · 26/06/2017 07:25

I don't think Flora would be a problem, but I do worry Wilfred might stand out enough to elicit some teasing.

bridgetreilly · 26/06/2017 08:30

I live in quite a working class area so worried they might be bullied, although hopefully sould be moving before starting school.

Wow. Because no middle class kids ever bullied anyone, right?

Namechange2837 · 26/06/2017 08:33

Not a fan I'm afraid - Flora is gut bacteria 😕

Namechange2837 · 26/06/2017 08:34

Could you have Wilfred and call him Will? That wouldn't be as bad I guess

Wilfred and Flora are lovely names OP. Not everyone will like them but there is nothing wrong with them. Wilfred is getting quite popular in some areas and Flora is just a nice pretty name so if you like them go for it.

Scribblegirl · 26/06/2017 08:43

I love both Smile

Dontrocktheboat · 26/06/2017 08:44

I think they are both fine - particularly like flora.

Don't think they will be bullied no matter what the area. These type of names are very popular at moment across the board. At a day out to a local attraction on Saturday (v normal, northern area) I overheard Ada, Nora X 2, Stanley and Arthur so I think Flora and Wilfred would fit right in!
