DD is watching something on Netflix and has produced the name Clay to me and wants her brother to be called it hmm is it even a name!? Does anyone actually like it!?

DramaAlpaca Sun 25-Jun-17 21:18:47

It's very American sounding to me, probably short for Clayton.

No, I don't like it.

I wouldn't ever call my child it but I do sort of like it.

13 Reasons Why is the show I assume. It's quite a good name not too unusual but easy enough to spell. smile

GrumpySausage Sun 25-Jun-17 21:21:25

Is it sons of anarchy he's watching? Clay is one of the main characters in that?

Not a fan to be honest. It is very American but I also think a fairly harsh sounding name.

Sorry reminds my of clay baths hmm

Bubblysqueak Sun 25-Jun-17 21:22:04

Is it short for Clayton?

Topseyt Sun 25-Jun-17 21:27:00

I don't like it. Clay pots, clay pigeons shooting, clay soil.

It would be a no from me, I'm afraid.

Wayne Rooneys third child is called Klay

duxb Sun 25-Jun-17 22:03:03

Is she watching 13 reasons why? If so how old is she?

HayleysStuff Sun 25-Jun-17 22:08:10

Yes it's 13 reasons why, I remember her saying. I don't think it is short for anything on there.

She's 14, why?

TaggieRR Sun 25-Jun-17 22:08:54

It's horrible!

TaggieRR Sun 25-Jun-17 22:10:07

Ps feet of clay means fundamental character flaw. I wouldn't want that association

BossyBitch Sun 25-Jun-17 22:10:46

If you happen to expecting twins you can always name the other one Turf (for a boy) or Bone-China (for a girl) ... grin

The aptly named Clay Jones was the lovely presenter of Gardeners' Question Time many years ago.

Abbyll Sun 25-Jun-17 22:17:19

Would suggest watching 13 reasons why with any young person, I watched it at 33 and wouldn't want my daughter watching it without being able to discuss it with her afterwards.

MyFavouriteName Sun 25-Jun-17 22:25:42

I quite like Clay. I might assume it was short for something but nothing else.

I'm not sure I'd let a 14 year old watch 13 Reasons Why without having watched it / watching it with them though. Some rather disturbing themes and scenes in it.

MiniMaxi Sun 25-Jun-17 22:54:39

I knew a very handsome Clay growing up - not sure it was short for anything.

Unadon Sun 25-Jun-17 22:56:29

I hope your surname isn't Court. grin

Sophronia Mon 26-Jun-17 00:39:30

It makes me think of Wayne Rooney, as one of his sons is called Klay.

blahthisistoohard Mon 26-Jun-17 00:41:14

Oh my gosh no! Awful
