What do we think? I've always liked it -it was my favourite name as a teen, but hadn't seriously considered it for any of my actual babies. But now DH (who never suggests any names) has thrown a curve ball and suggested it for this baby. We can never agree on anything so I feel bound to consider it now!

So what do you all think? And any middle name thoughts? I'd quite like a saints name if there are any that go...

Ah, this was our chosen name if I had a girl this time (currently 28 weeks). I love it as it's unusual but not too strange sounding.

I'm having a second DS so will never use it. I love it though.

IWantACheeseburger Sun 25-Jun-17 21:11:29

It's top of my girls name list. Love it.

Astrid was on my list if I was having a girl, which I'm not.
If it's something you and your partner like, keep it aside for now as a possibility and see how you feel when your baby arrives.

Always loved it.

BattyBagshot Sun 25-Jun-17 21:13:40

We can't risk that Leanne, because then we risk not having a name for weeks! But glad to see the initial response is positive.

bridgetreilly Sun 25-Jun-17 21:14:57

It's not my favourite, but if you both like it, then definitely go for it!

Nospringflower Sun 25-Jun-17 21:15:42

WellErrr Sun 25-Jun-17 21:16:15

I think it's lovely

228agreenend Sun 25-Jun-17 21:17:27

Love it. Unusual but not wacky, and easy to spell.

SuperBeagle Sun 25-Jun-17 21:20:35

Strongly dislike it.

It's such a harsh, unflattering sounding name, IMO.

Topseyt Sun 25-Jun-17 21:22:51

I like it. Slightly unusual, but nice, easy to say and spell.

twobarnsmammisonthebus Sun 25-Jun-17 21:24:01

It's wonderful!

FemaleDilbert Sun 25-Jun-17 21:24:30

Lovely name

ClaudiaWankleman Sun 25-Jun-17 21:29:08

I like it. I particularly like the fact it doesn't invite many mispronunciations, even by foreign speakers.

I suppose the only potential problem is a natural shortening of the name is 'ass', but that would never be a serious nickname.

3wayburger Sun 25-Jun-17 21:30:03

''Tis lovely. I know twins, Astrid and Ingrid

MollyHuaCha Sun 25-Jun-17 21:33:47

Feminine and strong.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sun 25-Jun-17 21:33:59

Love it !

BattyBagshot Sun 25-Jun-17 21:42:23

Thanks 3way - I worry about the sound of it sometimes, but think Ingrid is great - and more common but very similar sounding, which reassures me!

AstridsMama Sun 25-Jun-17 21:42:31

Never had my DD called "Ass" so far!
We use Streed, Asti, Astri, Sassa.
Best name ever smile

BattyBagshot Sun 25-Jun-17 21:46:14

Thank you Astrid's Mama! Is it ok we have no skandi heritage?!

Nicketynac Sun 25-Jun-17 21:48:53

We call ours Asteroid (and sometimes Arstid after a range of lamps at IKEA!). She has never been called Ass to my knowledge grin

AstridsMama Sun 25-Jun-17 21:50:14

We have no scandi either! No-one has ever commented.
