Can anyone give me an opinion on which name they prefer
The middle name will be Dawn after my Nan
Choices are

Emmy
Leni
Thanks I'm worried about comments if I have Maggie!!

All lovely! I've just had an Alice. Did think about Margaret/ Maggie. Thatcher put me off in the end though.

I think Maggie is a beautiful name and very cool. Go for the name you love. People will associate it with your daughter so quickly and if they say anything negative they are rude.

I think they all go with your other DC's names except for Leni.

Maggie is nice. Don't let a horrible woman spoil a perfectly good name!

Emmy is my favourite but I think Alice goes best with your other DCs names :)

I have a Maggie and no-one has been negative. I secretly love that if her name is called, for example in a doctor's surgery, people expect to see a 70 year old! Her only quibble is that people assume she is called Maddie because that is more common for a teenager

Lenin makes me think of goose-stepping Hitler Youth singing the Horst-Wessel Lied, unfortunately, Grin but interestingly, Maggie doesn't have Thatcher connotations for me -- I really like it.

I think Alice Dawn is really beautiful and goes well with your other lovely names. I do think thatcher sadly when I hear Maggie 😔

I also had Agnes on my list then you could have Aggie if you liked that. I still prefer Alice though.Smile

Maggie reminds me of maggots too much, the other names are lovely though.

Maggie as a nickname for Margaret or magdelena? Just seems abit lacking for a first name

Report
hayser33 · 14/06/2017 20:04

Just Maggie as not overly keen on Margaret and we would never call her that and Magdalena is too long as other children names are only 4 letters so didn't wany anything too long

I like Maggie as a stand alone name and Maggie Dawn sounds really nice, but unusual in the combo. Go for it.

I like all the names on your list but Maggie is my favourite!

If you and your family like Maggie, just use it!

Plenty of other associations besides Thatcher, so if you like Maggie, then go for it.
