would like some honest opinions, and possibly some similar sounding suggestions! and have you ever heard it before? smile

pinkmagic1 Thu 11-May-17 22:05:26

Like it but prefer Eden.

Sadik Thu 11-May-17 22:08:26

I've never heard it as a name, only as the forest in As You Like It. I think it's a great name, strong and easy to remember but unusual. I'd probably assume you were a fan of the play but didn't want to use Rosalind or Celia.

Roseandbee Thu 11-May-17 22:10:59

I really like it, very original but still sounds like a nice name, Eden is lovely too

unapaloma Thu 11-May-17 22:14:02

I would worry about teasing when she's a teen, sounds too like 'harden'...

Ledehe Thu 11-May-17 22:15:25

Arden is a quite deprived area of Glasgow

Twooter Thu 11-May-17 22:16:02

Name of a Midlands school

MumBod Thu 11-May-17 22:17:29

Teenage boys will call her "Ard on".

It's a nice name though.

WeeM Thu 11-May-17 22:18:20

Ledehe- that's exactly what I was going to say too

FrancisCrawford Thu 11-May-17 22:19:20

Arden is nice in principle, but too close to Hard On for comfort (especially when she's a teen)

Best avoid.

honeybeex Thu 11-May-17 22:19:54

yes im slightly worried about that "hard on" thing. What about Auden instead?

MintChocAddict Thu 11-May-17 22:20:56

What Ledehe and WeeM said

If your child is ever likely to spend any time in Glasgow then it's a no from me OP

Like Auden better

Love Arden !
Repping it for Bill Shakey

BlueChairs Thu 11-May-17 22:28:27

Auden sounds like odour or Odin

usernjdhkvdgkb Thu 11-May-17 22:32:14

I only know one she is around 45/46 ish now and I remember her being beautiful (older girl we looked up to when we were 15) I remember attending her wedding when I was 15 thinking she was the most beautiful bride ever!

I actually like it, pretty, strong name and much prefer to Eden)which in my area would be classed along the same lines as kaden, Tommy-Lee, Kayla etc

honeybeex Thu 11-May-17 22:35:42

that's a sweet story user!

I originally liked Auden more but thought people might think it's a boys name. Cant use Eden for reasons i won't get into though i do like it. Anyone have any other suggestions that have this sound / theme???????

FrancisCrawford Thu 11-May-17 22:37:37

Oh dear, no.

There is one connection with that name, and that is of a male poet. WH Auden.

CricketRuntAndRashers Thu 11-May-17 22:38:39

It reminds me of The House of Arden.

I actually really like the name! I personally don't like Eden.

honeybeex Thu 11-May-17 22:39:02

i like the poet smile do you mean because he is a male?

CricketRuntAndRashers Thu 11-May-17 22:44:21

Anyhow, similar names...

Maybe Alder, Arbour or Ardith?
