Well... yes or no??

ZilphasHatpin Mon 08-May-17 23:17:51

Is there a second half that you left off?

Raaaaaah Mon 08-May-17 23:18:25

Love it!

I've already done it. Getting a few raised eyebrows. So thought I'd ask for some honest responses

Good strong name. Though some people struggle with the R. I have an acquaintance who lived in London for years and many people pronounced his name as Muddo

badgersnotincluded Mon 08-May-17 23:25:50

Honestly, I thought Murder. Then Murdoch.

12Maudsmammy Mon 08-May-17 23:26:02

Ha! John! Thank you and quite rightl, if you don't commit to the r, it's done for ;)

I usually hate when ppl post negative stuff on baby name threads so I'm sorry but I read Murdo like paedo. Murderer like paedophile. That's awful I'm sorry but that's the pattern my brain somehow made!

I like it - assume you are Scottish?

mawbroon Mon 08-May-17 23:27:50

I like it. Nobody would bat an eyelid in Scotland, but you might have trouble with it elsewhere.

ZilphasHatpin Mon 08-May-17 23:28:19

Is it the name of a famous person? Where does it come from?

ZilphasHatpin Mon 08-May-17 23:29:13

Ah Scotland, I suspected but wasn't sure. My first thought was how they said "murder" in taggart grin

12Maudsmammy Mon 08-May-17 23:31:00

Murdo the paedo. Wow. Thanks.

Justmuddlingalong Mon 08-May-17 23:31:03

I went to school with a Murdo. He was a really lovely boy. I like it. It's a good solid name, unusual without being try hard. Congratulations flowers

LosingDory Mon 08-May-17 23:31:17

Poor kid...I know you've already done it but I'm not surprised you're already getting raised eyebrows!

Bisquitine Mon 08-May-17 23:32:31

I love it! Know a couple.

Raaaaaah Mon 08-May-17 23:35:40

There is a Murdo in the Katie Morag books so not that left field. Our DS has a traditional but uncommon name. I was a bit self conscious at first but now I don't even think about it and he loves it. Congratulations!

Timeandtune Mon 08-May-17 23:37:24

I know a Murdo. Lovely boy. It's a great name no matter where you live.

12Maudsmammy Mon 08-May-17 23:40:16

Thank you

I know a lovely Murdo. Are you Scottish, op?

sooperdooper Tue 09-May-17 00:15:15

My first thought was it sounds like murder, and I've never heard it before
