Beatrycze or Izabela?

Don't worry about spelling, there's so many variants of Isabel/Isabella that they'll all have to spell it out anyway. And of course you want to use the polish spelling being a polish family.

Every single time on a thread with Polish names you have someone telling you it "looks wrong". So rude and ignorant.

I like Izabela best but mainly because Izzy is a very cool nickname. Both names are nice.

I much prefer Bea/Beatrycze. But that's because Beatrice is one of my all time favourite names (and I like the nn Tris as well, I guess in polish it could be Tryz/Tryc?!). However I can see that in London, Izabela is going to be 'easier' than Beatrycze. So I guess if that bothers you then Izabela wins.

Just out of interest, is the Polish pronunciation of Beatrycze closer to the English one or to the Italian one (Which is a bit like Bee-ah-trich-ay)? Just interested as I think the Italian way is really pretty and prefer it to the English way so that would influence my decision!

Regardless, I think both are pretty names. Purely from the point of view of what will be easiest, Izabela probably wins as it's going to be easier for English speakers to pronounce and spell, and it's a very pretty name also. It depends how much that matters to you though, as people will learn - it's just that your daughter might have to correct some mangled pronunciations of Beatrycze. So it's whether you think that will bother you.

I love both names but do think that, if you are in the UK then Izabela will less likely be spelt/pronounced incorrectly. If that doesn't bother you then I would go with Beatrycze!

Brits will find the spelling Beatrycze a bit tricky whereas Izabela is fairly straightforward. Plus I love Isabella and don't like Beatrice much, so Izabela.

They're both beautiful names!!
Two of my best friends have these names! But I would have to go with Iza, as I know a few tiny izabelas, an Iza, a Bela, and an Izi, all under five, and I can't imagine a teeny tiny bea. (But that's probably just me!) they're both fab!
