We just haven't found a name that "feels" right. We need to register DC no later than 3 days after his or her birth (not in the UK...), which is probably why it feels as if time is running away...

The name should sound nice to Scottish ears (we're moving to Scotland for work related reasons).

DD's name is Clarissa. Thank you very much in advance

(Btw, I namechanged for this because I wanted to mention DD's name)

How about Imogen or Pheobe? Good luck with your move to Scotland, I'm sure you'll love it Smile

Flora is actually the godmother's name (a family member), it was also my great-aunt's and is my 2nd cousin's name... I love it but I do think there are enough Floras in my family. But I honestly love the name and wish I could use it...

I really like Ottilie and Ada.

I'm not sure about Imogen (DH really dislikes Phoebe...). I actually quite like the letter I and the nn Immy is sweet. But I don't love the name...

Sorry.

Thank you :)!

I like Ava, thanks :)

Maisi kind of reminds me of corn, tbh. But it is a really nice name.

sophronia Oh wow. Thanks :)!

I like Isidora/Isadora. Louisa and Liliana are both really gorgeous (flower names in general are really lovely, imo) but DD's middle name is already one of the many "Lily" names....

So, I googled flower names (again...). Do you like Viola, Erica or Marigold?

How about Mimosa or Calla

Report
floraeasy · 27/04/2017 18:15

Iris is another flower name.

QuietNameChange · 27/04/2017 18:41

I'll interpret that as a "no" to Viola, Erica and Marigold? Wink
Mimosa sounds gorgeous. But it is very brunchy, isn't it? Iris is really nice, thanks! :)

DH just suggested Andromeda or Juno... I'm a bit unsure. I think a flower name would be easier (and maybe also kinder.) Or maybe a gemstone? Saphira?

Opal?

I LOVE Marissa but we took it off the list because it sounds so much like Clarissa (imo...) it's too matchy, I think...

I'm not sure how to pronounce Ailsa (but I google it), but if it's pronounced like I think it is? Then that's really beautiful, thanks :)

I like Erica but Marigold would be hard to pass off (I'm SCottish living in Scotland), not a big fan of Viola but no issues with it really, just personal taste.
Juno is nice, not so keen on the others :)

Oops, sorry, x post.

Nap: Is Juno really that great? One minute I love it and the next... Opal doesn't sound very nice imo. Sorry.

Names to avoid (that are ghard to pronounce with a scottish accent or sound plain weird)

Pearl = Peril
Aurora = sounds like a dog chewing a toffee

Probably loads of others (e.g.Carl but that's a boys name :) )
