!?

BossWitch Sun 23-Apr-17 15:29:36

It's not great...

allegretto Sun 23-Apr-17 15:30:39

In what way ok?

AmysTiara Sun 23-Apr-17 15:30:56

Of course it is ok

Daffieee Sun 23-Apr-17 15:31:01

2 colours...

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans Sun 23-Apr-17 15:31:50

Sounds fine to me.

NavyandWhite Sun 23-Apr-17 15:32:03

I think Amber Rose flows better but Ruby is a nice name too.

allegretto Sun 23-Apr-17 15:33:51

2 colours and 2 gemstones- a bit unusual but not terrible.

DramaAlpaca Sun 23-Apr-17 15:34:18

If you like it that's all that matters. I think of it as two gemstones rather than two colours.

BikeRunSki Sun 23-Apr-17 15:34:55

2 gem names are a bit odd, unless you're a geologist or a jeweller.

petalsandstars Sun 23-Apr-17 15:38:40

Reminds me too much of the kids programme Sofia the first.

I love it but I don't think it's very mumsnetty.
Lots of names that mumsnetters generally agree are beautiful- I am confused

moonlightmile Sun 23-Apr-17 15:43:26

I think it's fine, Amber and Ruby are both perfectly ordinary, not too 'out there' names so I doubt anyone will think twice about it.

badtime Sun 23-Apr-17 15:51:58

Both names are fine on their own, but the two gemstones together seem a bit odd, like if someone was called Hazel Willow or Iris Violet.

BuzzKillington Sun 23-Apr-17 15:55:36

Amber and Ruby? Too much, imo, like Daisy Rose or Hope Constance...

I would also admit that, round the parts at least, Amber is a bit of a chavvy name.

Rockaby Sun 23-Apr-17 16:10:38

I think you'd be better with a middle name starting with a letter other than R tbh. Amber Ruby just sounds like Amberuby or Amber <pause> Ruby.

If you really want two gem stones how about

Amber Opal
Amber Pearl
Amber Sapphire

Or something totally different.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Sun 23-Apr-17 17:27:16

Yes of course, it's absolutely fine.

FannyFanakapan Sun 23-Apr-17 17:32:10

How often will someone say the second name? How often does anyone say the second name unless its hyphenated like Daisy-Mae or Emily-Jane.

I have an AMber wiith a second name similar to Ruby...I only ever call her by both names when I an pretending to be shocked at her behaviour. Its a lovely name. Especially if, like mine, she is a red-head!

Awwlookatmybabyspider Sun 23-Apr-17 17:51:22

You only need to add Ferne and you'll have your own little pedestrian traffic light.

OrlandaFuriosa Sun 23-Apr-17 17:57:45

If you like it, go ahead. I wouldn't but that's because I don't think rubies come in amber colours...but few people will use both names.

Sophronia Sun 23-Apr-17 21:05:37

I think it's too much together.

FeedTheSharkAndItWIllBite Sun 23-Apr-17 21:14:14

It's fine.

Do I love it? No. But it's ok.

I'd prefer Ruby as a first name, tbh. Ruby Rose.

But Amber Rose or Amber Ray would be nice as well imo.

KimJongCunt Sun 23-Apr-17 23:12:43

The Rs run in to each other and for that reason I would reconsider.

Ruby Amber is better imo.

Teabagtits Sun 23-Apr-17 23:22:52

I really like both names not sure about together. I once worked with an amber rose whose maiden surname began with a T so great initials. She married someone whose surname began with an S... not so great initials. I think she kept her maiden name.

AmateurSwami Sun 23-Apr-17 23:24:11

Amber rose is famous for dating Kanye west, don't pick that.

Amber ruby is lovely
