We have no Dutch heritage, so we aren't going for Schuyler. However, we are unsure if we should go for Skyla/Skylar/Skyler? For our baby girl. She is definitely this name (has been since we knew she was a girl) we are registering her on Tuesday, so need to know smile

I think skyler looks best written down!

BitchPeas Sat 22-Apr-17 20:59:14

I'd say Skylar. But I've never met one! That's my favourite spelling out of your list though.

Skyler definitely.

And congratulations flowers

Thank you smile just looked and Skyla is the most used spelling! I wasn't expecting that.

ImSoUnoriginal Sat 22-Apr-17 21:01:46

I'd go Skylar too. I'm not so fond of the er ending.

I love Schuyler but your DC may have an easier time of it with Skyler.

My niece is Skyla.
I have seen it spelt Skyler as well.

Squidgling Sat 22-Apr-17 21:03:23

I prefer it with the "a" because I think it looks more like a female name. Not sure whether I prefer it with the "r" on the end or not. My first thought was Skyla but then as I looked at it more I wasn't sure if it looked unfinished. So perhaps Skylar is best. Congratulations!

For a girl, I would probably go for Skyla. Skylar/Skyler seems more like a boys name to me.
It's a lovely name spelt whichever way though.

For ease of spelling I'd go with Skyla.

PotteringAlong Sat 22-Apr-17 21:42:12

I would stick with Schuyler.

AnnoyedofTunbridgeWells Sat 22-Apr-17 21:44:35

I pronounce Skyla differently from Schuyler so I think you should go with Skylar

SmokyRobinson Sat 22-Apr-17 21:44:58

Skylar for me

Fauchelevent Sat 22-Apr-17 21:44:59

I like it as a middle name to Angelica, Eliza or Peggy.

In all seriousness I prefer Schuyler, or Skylar. Skyla... i don't know if i would choose it but i imagine a very pretty, tanned girl with dark hair, or big blonde curls so if you like it go for it

SmokyRobinson Sat 22-Apr-17 21:46:44

Schuyler is not a Dutch first name - more a last name, but spelled Schuiler

SmokyRobinson Sat 22-Apr-17 21:47:18

Or Schuijler

Ellieboolou27 Sat 22-Apr-17 21:49:45

Skyler I like the best and looks the nicest. Reminds me of breaking bad and I really like the name too.

BartiDdu Sat 22-Apr-17 22:07:17

In Dutch, Schuyler is a girl's name and Schylar a boy's name. Following that logic, spelling the name as Skyler for a girl would make most sense.

Sophronia Sat 22-Apr-17 22:43:35

I've heard that in the US it's usually Skyler for a boy and Skylar for a girl

I think in certain circles Schuyler will always have you pegged as musical theatre fans. If that's fine by you then Schuyler away grin

and Peggy

KoalaDownUnder Sun 23-Apr-17 01:00:15

I prefer Skyla.

Empireoftheclouds Sun 23-Apr-17 01:06:40

Depends what you want her name to be surely?

Skyla ends with an 'ah' sound and skylar ends with an 'are'

Spell accordingly
