Sam or Tom?

Just felt if we went with Tom people would always assume he was Thomas more often than they'd assume a Sam was a Samuel. In other words, Sam seemed more established as a name in its own right than Tom.

Tom was our second choice with our next two sons as well but we never used it in the end. Still like it though.

I know so many Toms my age/generation so I wouldn't use it. It's a nice name though. Just not as nice as Sam!

They are both great names but for my personal preference Sam.

It just seems like a stronger name (IMO)

I feel the opposite, Scarlett! I find Tom a strong name and Sam a bit wishy washy. It that could be related to the (quite a lot of) Sam and Tom's I know.
