Thoughts on Jovie

Hi,

Need some advice, we both like the name Jovie but others have said it sounds like J0bby, especially in Glaswegian accent! Don't know what to do as we both love the name and have few other ideas but don't want to risk it if people will associate it with that word.

Where does it come from? It's not great. I've heard jovan as a name, better than jovie I think

Never heard it before so my first reaction is that it sounds made up/try too hard

Jovi or Jovie?

Either way it's just not doing it for me.

And are we talking for a boy or girl? You'll have people saying 'Jodie?' and you'll have to spell it endlessly.

It's OK as a nn for Jovan but a bit flimsy as a standalone IYSWIM.

And Jon Bon

Or perhaps you are a massive fan, and that's why you chose it?

I love it but my favourite film is Elf so I'm biased.

Elf, don't do it.

I assumed it was Jodie with a typo.

As in a sort of female version of Jove? God of Sky and Thunder?

Or as in Jon Bon Jovi? His real name is Bongiovi.

Erm. I'm not sure I would. Unless I'm missing another meaning for the name.

Agree people would probably hear it as 'Jodie' if they weren't singing a bit of classic rock at you

Sorry but no.
Bon Jovi are my fave band since forever but still wouldn't inflict that that name on my child.

It made me think of "juvie" from the Australian soap (as in juvenile detention facility)!

Isn't that the name of buddy's love interest in Elf?
