I like both, with Libby for short.

Elisabeth (although I would spell it Elizabeth).
I don't like those names that are a word for something else.

Elisabeth is obviously a lot more classic, but Liberty is a bit more unusual. We also dislike Liz/Lizzy.

Elizabeth (this spelling).

If you call her Elisabeth, people will just spell it Elizabeth for the rest of her life anyway. The perk of this name is that it's well known enough to never be misspelt or mispronounced; Elisabeth would change that.

I love Elisabeth... but I also like Liberty. I like the fact you can have Bertie as a nickname even if it's a bit bizarre for a girl.

Can you have Liberty Elisabeth? That way Libby still stands as a nickname and she can pick which longer form to use herself.

I always think of Adrian Mole when I hear Liberty but I'm not entirely normal and Elisabeth is lovely.

Elisabeth is not a misspelling.

I have a name that can be spelled two ways (think Jane/Jayne) and have often had my name spelled the wrong way, but honestly its never bothered me. I strongly prefer the Elisabeth version for some reason.

I really love both names, and more importantly they are both names DH and DS like too.

Elisabeth has more options for nicknames, but is so much more common.

Elisabeth is not a misspelling.

Obv, but if you name her Elisabeth and people just spell her name Elizabeth anyway, it is being misspelt.

Elisabeth is lovely and timeless. I really don't like Liberty.

I think Liberty would definitely prove a lot more divisive - not many people will strongly dislike something as classic and evergreen as Elisabeth, but Liberty will probably get love it/hate it reactions.

Elisabeth for me. I prefer it spelled this way actually.

I love Libby, but I'm not so keen on Liberty.

I love Liberty as a name. Libby or Bertie for short.

If you call her Elisabeth or Elizabeth her friends WILL call her Liz / Lizzie even if she, and you, don't like it. DAHIKT.

Liberty.

DD's middle name is Elizabeth and it's become very popular in the past 4-5 years. It seems to be on its way to becoming the new Isabelle.

Through work, I come into contact with the names of some thousand dc of 4 and under, and I can only recall seeing 1 Elizabeth over the last few year. So I don't know if it is regional, but it's not used much where I live.

Both names could be shortened to Libby.

Elizabeth is my middle name so the way you've spelt it annoys me and if never spell it different to the way I'm used to. Both names you've are alright tho.

Elizabeth is becoming popular?! It's always been popular.

There are only two girl's names that have been in the England & Wales Top 100, every single year since the lists began (over 100 years ago), one of those names is Elizabeth. (The other is Sarah).

I know a 9yo Elizabeth, 5 yo Lizzy and two Bettys aged 4 and 2. Elizabeth is certainly top 50 whereas Liberty is more like 400th. However DS1 has a top 50 name and DS2 has a top 10 name, although his nickname is unusual. So I'm not massively bothered about popularity but want to avoid her always being Elisabeth S. at school!
