I'm a mumsnetter. Alfons just reminds me of Balonz I'm afraid....

Ah, Alfons was one of our favourites!

But isn't Alfons just an alternate spelling of Alphonse?

Alfonso and Elbert are both lovely.

How is Guus pronounced? I'm imaging something like Caius. (As in Cambridge college.)

(Sorry my phone changed Alfons.)

I like Bram best out of your list, then Guus. Elbert is nice too. Alfonso is my least favourite, but that's just personal preference.

That said, there's nothing wrong with Alfons. It's not horrible, I can't see a kid getting bullied over it etc. If you and your partner love it, go for it.

I totally love this name. And the little Bram I know is cute with a hot dad

I must be old fashioned but Bram is horrible!

Brahm - yes I've changed the spelling intentionally

I think Bram or Alfons certainly travel best in the U.K.

My sympathies, DH and I are from different countries and were living in a third country when we had DD1 - finding a name that worked with all three backgrounds was a nightmare.

Love Bram, but prefer it as a diminutive of Abraham. Gives more options when older. V cool name though Smile

Why, Goose?

Thanks for the replies

Guus.
Pronounced 'hoos' or 'goose' with a guttural, breathy G.

I like bram for a child but find it too cute for a man. Guus is ok, not a fan of any others.

It's a bit funny to come on a UK website and ask about names that are obviously not British names. If you're asking 'which will work best in the U.K.) I get it but British people aren't the best group to comment on your (Dutch?) names!
