Thoughts on Josiah?

Hi everyone Smile I've just come across the name Josiah today whilst pondering names for DC3 (currently 20 weeks pg). I'm trying to say it out loud to see if it 'feels' right. I like the nn potential of Joe and especially Joss but I'm not sure if it's the one.
I'm really struggling this time round, ds1 is Ethan and I still love that name now. Other names floating around on the list, but equally not jumping out at me are:
Alexander (Xander as nn)
Harris,
Stanley,
Owen,
Caleb,
Rudy.
An eclectic mix I know!
What do you ladies think? My brain is at the frazzled stage where each name is now blurring into one Confused
Thanks xx

Are you from Stoke? Just wondering as you also have Stanley on your list Smile

Josiah sounds rather grand but in a good way. I do like Alexander. There's enough of them around for everyone to know how to spell it, but not so many that there will be 3 in his class at school.

Maybe you'll feel something more definate when you meet the little one?

Hi, no I'm from the north east and I'm getting a lot of stick from my family about my preference for a grand name this time. Blush
I fully agree that I think we'll end up deciding once little one is born, but I'm trying and currently failing to generate a nice list ready for the big day hehe!
Thanks

Alexander (Xander as nn) - love Alexander but really don't like Xander
Harris - nice
Stanley - nice
Owen - ok, but not my favourite name
Caleb - lovely
Rudy - lovely
Josiah - love it! One of my fave boy names ATM, but I will most likely never use it as DH hates it (boo)! Use it for me op Grin.

Also, how about Isaiah or Jonah?

For some reason I think Rudy goes best with Ethan. I can definitely picture a sibling set with those names.

Josiah Bartlett from West Wing, shortened to Jed. Love it.

Love love love it! It got a thumbs down from DH but I was very tempted. It's a name with a very positive Biblical origin too.

I love Rudy and Xander.
How about Jonas.

For me It conjours up a older black man from the Deep South

I'm a West Wing nut, so this was my first thought too!

I really like Josiah

Why is Josiah grand? He was a king in the Bible, but so was David.
FWIW I think it is a great name.

Josiah is nice, I love Joss! Rudy is my other fave from your list but I think Josiah or Caleb are great Biblical names that go best with Ethan.

Very Bible Belt of America, or Amish. Not a fan.

I like Stanley and Caleb best.

Stanley, Owen and Rudy are great names too

Love, love Josiah. I know a Josiah shortened to Siah. He is a seriously cool, kind, lovely person.

But please not Ethan - all I think of is Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. He will get people humming the theme tune to him. Just no.

My brother is Josiah (known as Joss). I love it.

I love Josiah nn Joe or Joss. I've also heard Siah as a nn.

Josiah is really nice. I have also (as above) heard it with nn Siah which is fab. I think Ethan and Harris work well. Good list!

Btw I would never have associated Ethan with mission impossible!

Thanks everyone.
Ds1 is Ethan and, so far, during his 8 years gracing us with his presence on this planet, we've never heard anybody mention mission impossible! Grin
Thanks again for all the advice and suggestions.

Wedgwood

It does sound quite grand, and to me all names that end in iah sound as though they belong on a wise bearded old grandfather. But I suppose even wise bearded old grandfathers were babies at one stage!

My son is called Jos (short for Joseph :) ) a la Buttler, the cricketer, and Whedon, the screenwriter. Abso love it, obviously. Gorgeous name. Ive hear of a Josiah aka Jos IRL too. Don't use it though cos then everyone will want it and it will be number 1 soon ;) Just kidding.

Josiah is really awesome. Imo much nicer than the other names on your list.
Alexander (Xander as nn) - too popular imo
Harris - I really like that one. But Josiah still edges it imo
Stanley - I dislike the nn Stan. But it's ok
Owen - ok.
Caleb - ok.
Rudy - I personally genuinely dislike this name, tbh...

Josiah is fabulous, Harris is a close second (imo).
