Too outdated?
Baby girl is due in 11 days. We love the name Jess so she will mainly be known as Jess with Jessica on the birth certificate. I am worried it's very 80s/90s though!

It's classic and beautiful, don't worry, be happy ! 😄

I knew about 4 Jessica's born in the last couple of years.

Rioja123 Fri 14-Apr-17 17:17:02

I don't like it personally but if you do who cares?!

starzzzz Fri 14-Apr-17 17:17:12

Love it.

OuchBollocks Fri 14-Apr-17 17:17:40

If DS (6 weeks) had been a girl he would have been Jessica

CMamaof4 Fri 14-Apr-17 17:18:00

Adore it, beautiful name.

Jooni Fri 14-Apr-17 17:22:46

I know of several baby Jessicas - not too dated at all! Jess is great.

Would you consider something like Jessamine or Jessamy on the BC instead if you don't love Jessica?

GastonsWife Fri 14-Apr-17 17:25:49

Those are beautiful suggestions. Will talk to OH. I like Jessa but I think people will harden the ss and it will sound more like Jezza.

MikeUniformMike Fri 14-Apr-17 17:40:09

Go for Jessica. It's a name that won't date and is always quite popular.
Jess is nice too.

mum2be2boys Fri 14-Apr-17 17:56:00

Love the name Jessica and nn Jess/Jessie are both lovely too :-)

YouWhatMate Fri 14-Apr-17 18:09:14

It's still a top 10 name, so not dated at all

Crochetty Fri 14-Apr-17 21:09:22

Know 4 Jessica's who are 13/14 so def a 21st century name!

SuperBeagle Fri 14-Apr-17 21:11:40

It's outdated to me, but it doesn't trend in the charts here in Australia, so it seems to have been left in the 90s.

I like Jessie, and prefer Jessa to Jessica. I don't like the "sick" sound in Jessica.

JustSpeakSense Fri 14-Apr-17 21:26:29

Lots of Jessica's about, it's a very current and popular name.

She could choose to be called jess, Jessie or Jessica in the future.

I really love it, but it is pretty common.

pepperrabbit Fri 14-Apr-17 21:34:44

My Jessica is 8 and it was in the Top 20, or maybe even 10, names the year she was born I think, but she has always been the only one in her class.
Obviously I love the name! She's a full Jessica, but quite likes Jess.

Sophronia Fri 14-Apr-17 23:34:03

I prefer Jessamine.

DramaAlpaca Sat 15-Apr-17 00:08:50

I love it, very pretty name.

Also like Jessamine as suggested above.

emilybrontescorset Sat 15-Apr-17 11:15:15

Love it.

Rockaby Sat 15-Apr-17 12:31:52

Lovely! I think it's fairly timeless. I have definitely heard of it being used recently, so don't think it's 80s / 90s.

Aquamarine1029 Sat 15-Apr-17 12:54:34

I love the name Jessica. Great choice!

manicinsomniac Sat 15-Apr-17 20:01:06

It's not dated, it's top 10.

Having said that, I have a 9 year old Jessica and we don't meet that many others of any age. Always some but never ridiculous numbers.

Ecureuil Sat 15-Apr-17 20:03:37

I'm a Jessica and really like my name! I know a few baby/toddler Jessica's too.

laurzj82 Sat 15-Apr-17 20:09:07

Love it. We nearly called DD Jessica
