We're really struggling with a name for our baby girl and running out of time. I like Sophia, but worry its too popular. Other names we are considering are Georgia, Chloe and Verity. What do you think we should go for? Any other similar suggestions very welcome too! Please help!

Sophie / Sophia are very popular.

Simone is similar but no one uses it.

Sophia is beautiful, who cares if it's popular!

I love Verity. Very pretty and not too common.

Susanna as an alternative to Sophia? I think Susie is a really sweet nn.

Verity is a great name. Similarly uncommon, pretty but not unheard of names are Cecily, Felicity, Rosalind and Celeste.

I think I read Sophia is one of the most popular names in the world right now, not just the UK so that would put me off, although it's a beautiful name! From your list my favourite would be Chloe, congratulations Flowers

Sophia is beautiful but yes, popular internationally. That's not necessarily a bad thing though - she'll find it translates well and sounds respectable and approachable whatever she decides to do/wherever she decides to live.

I know a Sophira, if that appeals? Similar but v uncommon. Cecily and Susanna are really lovely, less common options too.

Chloe is my all-time favourite name, so I'd choose that one.

But I also love Georgia and Sophia. Georgia is significantly less popular at the moment than Sophia, so if that's something that concerns you, you're probably best to go with Georgia.

I haven't liked Verity ever since someone said it sounded like "ferrety".

Georgia and Chloe are very 2000s as dd(16) has three Gs and 4Cs in her high school year of just 75/80 pupils so 35:40 girls. There are also a few Georgias below her and several Chloes in dd(7)s year at school.

I'd go with Verity I think as it is different

I really dislike Verity. Makes me think of a snobby bully. Sorry.
Would you consider Cleo/Cleone instead of Chloe?
I like Sophia too but yes very popular.

I like Sophia and I only know of one in real life so it doesn't seem to be that popular here!

I also like Georgia and Verity from your list.
