Yay or nay?

PurpleDaisies Wed 12-Apr-17 22:44:32

Nay. I don't like it for a girl either but seeing it without knowing your son, is think it was a girl's name.

Sophronia Wed 12-Apr-17 22:44:35

Yay. I prefer it for a boy.

NannyR Wed 12-Apr-17 22:47:35

Great name for a boy.

DramaAlpaca Wed 12-Apr-17 22:48:06

I think of it as a girls name.

accendo Wed 12-Apr-17 22:51:47

It's a very feminine name.

Mrsknackered Wed 12-Apr-17 22:51:50

Yay. I've only known girls to be Eden in very recent years.
I know a strapping 24 year old male Eden.

changename7 Wed 12-Apr-17 22:52:10

Thanks for the replies! There was a girl called Eden when I went to school and I've never met a boy with the name, but I do really like it.

HotSince82 Wed 12-Apr-17 22:57:00

Its a class thing primarily.

MC boys name.

WC girls name.

Traditionally though it is a male name.

I think its marvellous 😅

AlwaysCryOverSpiltTea Wed 12-Apr-17 23:02:24

I've never met anyone with the name, but since I'm a football fan, I see Eden as a boys name. Pronounced Ed-ən though, not Ee-dən.

changename7 Wed 12-Apr-17 23:05:35

@AlwaysCryOverSpiltTea I love football too! 😂 That's the reason I thought I could maybe call a baby boy Eden!

The more I say the name, the more I like it.

reuset Wed 12-Apr-17 23:05:51

I think of Anthony, first reference (a surname I know). I prefer it for a boy. Will look up actual stats now out of interest.

sonlypuppyfat Wed 12-Apr-17 23:11:17

I had a lovely perfume called Eden by Casheral in a green bottle, and thats the only thing that should be called Eden

reuset Wed 12-Apr-17 23:12:26

I remember the perfume!

buttercup54321 Wed 12-Apr-17 23:20:14

I would think of a girl.

OliviaStabler Wed 12-Apr-17 23:23:04

Nay. Girls name.

changename7 Wed 12-Apr-17 23:43:35

What about Arlo? Or Chester?
I like these too but I feel they're getting quite popular at the moment x

BillyButtfuck Thu 13-Apr-17 00:05:38

I think Eden is lovely for a little boy, Arlo is quite popular here (South Coast) and Chester I'm not a huge fan of.

SuperBeagle Thu 13-Apr-17 02:06:32

I only know girls named Eden, and tbh, like the PP said, they're all working class.

Arlo would be a dime a dozen where I live. Can't swing a cat without hitting one.

Chester is quite cool. Very American though.

OkPedro Thu 13-Apr-17 02:12:51

Chester molester 🙈 Eden for a boy or a girl is just wrong.. Reminds me of being 18 and Ibiza ahhhh

charliesfavouritebook Thu 13-Apr-17 02:35:22

Mrsknackered I wonder if we know the same strapping 24 year old Eden? grin

Definitely a fantastic boys name IMO.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Thu 13-Apr-17 08:38:54

Not for me, I always think of it as a girls name, sorry OP.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Thu 13-Apr-17 08:39:45

Arlo or Chester. Are great.
I like Arlo best.

Sugarpiehoneyeye Thu 13-Apr-17 08:40:16

Eden would be good as a middle name.

cece Thu 13-Apr-17 08:41:38

I don;t like it for a girl either.
