What do you think of Eisley for a girls names (eyes lee)?

It's not really heard of over here I have become familiar with it from browsing American baby name blogs/sites!

I have a feeling it will get torn to shreds here wink

I like it and it's growing on me but I'm not sure if it would work over here!

No, really bad

I think you would be setting her up for a lifetime of having to correct pronunciation and spell it out every time she says it. Isla is easier but similar.

As long as you don't mind and don't think your daughter would mind doing a lifetime of:

Spelling the name out.
Saying the name for someone when they read it.
Correcting the pronunciation
Explaining the name.
Receiving a blank stare when the name is mentioned
Insisting that "no it is a real name"
"yes, my/her name really us Eisley"

Then go for it

I haven't heard it used as a name. It sounds unisex or male to me, but mostly reminds me of Star Wars! (the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine).

2/10

Not my cup of tea at all, and doesn't sound likes it's spelled either so it's a no from me.

smashyourglasses Sun 09-Apr-17 20:20:34

I quite like this one.

smashyourglasses Sun 09-Apr-17 20:25:06

The Isley Brothers is the only similar thing i can think of, which isn't a bad thing at all.

I'm in the US and have never heard of it and wouldn't think "oh what a lovely name" when I heard it. I'd presume it was a surname from the family being used as a first name.

Topseyt Sun 09-Apr-17 20:31:15

Don't like it. It doesn't even really sound like a name.

Marmalade85 Sun 09-Apr-17 20:32:16

Sounds like Elvis Presley mushed together

Floggingmolly Sun 09-Apr-17 20:33:03

Awful, sorry.

ChippieFishieHorshie Sun 09-Apr-17 21:16:15

It's not particularly awful imo. But I'm not really convinced, tbh...

Oysterbabe Sun 09-Apr-17 21:18:26

It does have that made up sound about it.

JanuaryJuniper Sun 09-Apr-17 21:47:35

Ok ok, I had actually gone off it by the time I got back to the thread but that has doubly made me discount it. Thanks anyway grin

I thought about the Star Wars cantina too.
How about Bexley - I know one and she sometimes shortens it to Bex. It's a similar style ...

Sugarpiehoneyeye Mon 10-Apr-17 08:11:22

Isla is lovely OP, and similar.

Thatextrainch Mon 10-Apr-17 08:52:23

I don't think it's terrible but I find it quite hard to say.

Choccyhobnob Mon 10-Apr-17 09:37:59

purplesky my family are from Bexley grin

pieceofpurplesky Mon 10-Apr-17 10:11:33

Choccy I have friends from there - it's a lot better than Mos Eisley though and can be shortened to Bex!

BounceBounceSplishSplash Mon 10-Apr-17 10:46:33

Glad you've gone off it OP - it's a terrible name imo
