Currently our favourite boys name. We wouldn't name him something longer just to shorten it
What do you think?

Patriciathestripper1 Fri 07-Apr-17 21:03:28

Sorry but it makes me picture a fat cowboy eating a pie sorry any cowboys on MN

CaipirinhasAllRound Fri 07-Apr-17 21:06:14

How bizarre!

RealHouswifeofBury Fri 07-Apr-17 21:07:05

I love it!

Prefer Angus-but still like Gus.

buttercup54321 Fri 07-Apr-17 21:08:27

Fussy Gussy.
I think it used to be a brand of fish food too.

namechange20050 Fri 07-Apr-17 21:09:08

I love it. Augustus and Angus I love both.

FartnissEverbeans Fri 07-Apr-17 21:09:52

I love it too

MiniMaxi Fri 07-Apr-17 21:10:22

Lovely name!

"I think it used to be a brand of fish food too."

We always used to call goldfish Gussie!

lilyborderterrier Fri 07-Apr-17 21:13:31

Great name I've childminded a lovely little boy called Gustov ( (named Gus ) for the last 3 years.

DianeSelwyn Fri 07-Apr-17 21:16:27

Love it.

Glossolalia Fri 07-Apr-17 21:20:21

I think it's awful. Sorry.

Oysterbabe Fri 07-Apr-17 21:22:43

I think it's ugly.

sexymuthafunker Fri 07-Apr-17 21:24:19

Gus is like s fat boy.
Angus is quite cute though.
Sorry you did ask.

BattleaxeGalactica Fri 07-Apr-17 21:25:55

Lord, no.

He'll become Gus-set as soon as some little toerag wag discovers such things exist.

sexymuthafunker Fri 07-Apr-17 21:26:01

I think it might be because of Agustus Gloop in Charlie & The Chocolate Factory...

Joinourclub Fri 07-Apr-17 21:28:32

I love Angus and Gus. I did worry about Gus sounding too like 'guff' so ended up not using it myself.

What do you think of Gabe / Gabriel ?

CactusFred Fri 07-Apr-17 21:30:02

I like it.

I remember it being used in Queer as Folk USA as the baby's name in that. Really cute.

ChippieFishieHorshie Fri 07-Apr-17 21:55:08

I prefer Angus nn Gus? That's really nice.

BounceBounceSplishSplash Fri 07-Apr-17 21:56:59

I love it. I grew up with a Gus and in all the years I've known him he's never been given a daft nickname or been teased because of his name - he always just gets called Gus.

NameyMcNamerson83 Fri 07-Apr-17 21:57:14

I prefer Augustus with Gus as a nickname (or Auggie!) but Gus is nice on its own too.

punkpuffin Fri 07-Apr-17 21:57:53

Love it!!

LettuceMash Fri 07-Apr-17 22:00:04

It's not a pretty name and reminds me of a chubby boy eating loads of food with his hands.

Odd, but true.

SuperBeagle Fri 07-Apr-17 22:03:38

I don't mind it, but prefer it as a nickname for something longer. I love August with the nickname Gus, for example.
