Hayden - is it horrible? :-(

Hiya,

Our son was born on the 1st. We had decided on Hayden but people have now told us "please don't" and "oh, dont" and just general comments like that really.

It's making me really sad :-(

I like it. There's a little boy at dd's nursery called Hayden and I always think what a nice name it is. How rude of those people, if you like it use it and screw what they think. Congratulations btw Flowers

Don't listen to them! If you like it the name your DS that.

I like the name Hayden. On MN boys can only be named Oscar or Henry.

If you like it, use it.

You probably don't like my DCs names.

People are saying that after you have had your baby? Rude bastards!

He is your baby. You get to name him and other people get to name their babies.

How rude of people to comment on the name once the child had been born and name announced.

There's nothing wrong with the name Hayden. It's a lovely name.

How rude of people!! I think it's lovely. I made the mistake of telling a few family members & friends a couple of names on our baby boy shortlist when I was pregnant with my first. One name (Isaac) was nicked by my friend who had her little boy a week before I did & the reaction to our other shortlisted name (Beau) was so rude it really made me sad & put me off it. Anyway, for what it's worth I think Hayden is fab.

That's a nice name! Go for it.

Why would it be horrible?

Haydn would remind me of the composer (Hayden actually still does).

I really like it, I used to play something on the piano "Hayden was a happy man, wrote this happy little tune, all the children loved it then, you will learn to love it soon". So it makes me smile

Can't believe you've announced name AFTER birth and people are being so rude!

It's a lovely name. I'd axe the people saying this, not the name.

Hayden is a good name, I don't know why you are getting that reaction. Stick with it, tell them to get lost.

I really like Hayden OP - go for it. And congratulations on the baby!

I think Hayden is OK, but it's been tainted by the Kayden/Jayden/Brayden trend.

I would never be so rude as to say to someone's face I didn't like the name though. A friend has just had a baby and named it something I think is awful but I wouldn't dream of saying so.

Well I don't like it, but if I knew you I wouldn't let on, I'd say 'lovely etc'...

Tell 'em to fuck off.

I quite like it. Don't like Kayden, Jayden etc, but didn't associate Hayden with it. Enjoy your baby and call him whatever you want😀

My nephew is a Hayden, he's a very polite intelligent caring 11 year old so it has good connotations for me. If you like it you use it, never mind what others think. It's not a ridiculous made up, out there sort of name so I don't see the problem Smile

I love the name. I know one and he is a fantastic boy. Those people are rude and need to keep their opinion to themselves.

It's a lovely name! If you love it then use it for you little boy and ignore people and their rudeness.

I know a 16 year old girl called Hayden, I've known her all of her life and always thought was a fab name it is.

You'll never find a name that's liked by all. Hayden isn't an offensive name so I can't see the issues people have with it? Yes, they may not like it, but it isn't their child, it is yours! Congrats on his birth & I hope you choose whatever name you are happy with.

It's not at all like the much-reviled Jayden, Kayden etc. I don't know anyone with it as a first name but I know two lots of surnames Haydens and they are all lovely, so I have great associations for it.

I honestly thought it was a girls name because of the actress Hayden panniterre(sp?)

Is this were the trepidation is coming from? Even so though every day in here I see girls called James etc so doesn't really matter

I agree it's the height of rudeness to say anything once the baby is here and you've made your decision.

Don't let this spoil your first days with your lovely new son. By the way whatever you call him down the line the naysayers won't be able to imagine him being called anything else!
