Name changed for this. Is this a good name or not? It has some strong references, that we've probably all heard of. It's easy to pronounce and spell, and most will have heard of it.

I love it.

PaperdollCartoon Wed 05-Apr-17 23:04:59

DramaAlpaca Wed 05-Apr-17 23:15:21

Reminds me of The Camomile Lawn. I like it.

originalbiglymavis Wed 05-Apr-17 23:18:17

Wasn't that Jane Seymours character in a James Bond?

arghpedrevan Wed 05-Apr-17 23:19:47

I knew a Calypso once. I like it.

smashyourglasses Wed 05-Apr-17 23:20:15

😂 it's gold. Go for it 🖒

Calliope I like, Calypso no. It just makes me think of the music.

TheHiphopopotamus Wed 05-Apr-17 23:24:05

Reminds me of The Camomile Lawn.

Me too. It was a great book and tv adaption. I think I like the name too although it would depend on how it went with your surname.

DingDongtheWitchIsDangDiddlyDe Wed 05-Apr-17 23:25:42

Sweet jesus why would you be so cruel?

TheBookIsOnTheTable Wed 05-Apr-17 23:26:07

"Calypso was a nymph in Greek mythology" - Nice meaning for your future DD there grin

To me it's a type of music. Bit like calling your kid Samba or Tango.

kittytom Wed 05-Apr-17 23:38:13

I like it. A friend's DD is called Calypso. It suits her.

IllMetByMoonlight Wed 05-Apr-17 23:44:08

Was on a our list of middle names, I think it is lovely.

HeyRoly Wed 05-Apr-17 23:45:46

It's a liqueur coffee, like an Irish coffee but with Tia Maria. I'm quite partial to them but I wouldn't name my daughter after one.

UserOne Wed 05-Apr-17 23:48:56

Like the music? And I'm sure there's an ice lolly called Calypso or something too.

wizzywig Wed 05-Apr-17 23:50:10

Only if your surname is something like smith/ jones.

smashyourglasses Thu 06-Apr-17 00:27:59

Calypso Jones 😂

CatThiefKeith Thu 06-Apr-17 00:29:57

All I can think of is Pirates of the Caribbean

Jennifer Ehle in The Camomile Lawn. She wore great lipstick and had a grand old time during the war.

What was the name of her cousin who had the threesomes with the twins? She probably had a sensible name like Jane. 😄

reuset Thu 06-Apr-17 00:42:25

Not a favourite of mine, though I do know of someone who has used this.

FlyingDuck Thu 06-Apr-17 00:47:29

squoosh, it was Polly.

I'm reading some Mary Wesley's ATM - lots of Classical names in her books (Hebe, Calypso, Hector, Juno, Poppaea). And also many florals.

SuperBeagle Thu 06-Apr-17 00:55:14

Reminds me of Calippos too.

Jooni Thu 06-Apr-17 08:58:50

It's too much for me. This coming from the mother of a Juno.

Calliope, Calista or Cleo?

BasicBetty Thu 06-Apr-17 10:02:22

I really don't like it. Conjurs up images of Calippos and steel bands - neither of which I like.
Calista is great. Or Calliope.

squoosh Thu 06-Apr-17 10:25:38

Yes, Polly! Thank you FlyingDuck smile
