Baby names

Found out we're having a boy and we don't like any names!!

We had loads of lovely girls names in mind, I was convinced we would be told it's a girl and DH had even joked that we'd be screwed if it was a boy as he'd have to be nameless.

When we had DS we found out at 16 he was a boy and by the time I had him at 39 weeks we still hadn't agreed on a name, I didn't feel strongly about anything. My DH named him, it was a name I didn't even particularly like but I didn't like anything else either.

So now we are faced with naming another boy and we're in the exact same situation.

DH has come up with a few suggestions that he likes: Reece, Cameron and Lewis are his latest but I'm so completely nonchalant about them.

We don't want anything weird or old fashioned but nor do we want something common. I work with babies aged 0-2 and see about 40 new patients a week so at least I know which common names to avoid....but then it makes it harder when my husband suggests names which I know to be really popular and I tell him no for that reason.

Maybe I could just give the baby one of girl'a names? Grin

Why are boys names so hard? Sad

I desperately need inspiration!!!

Just name him after the main character in your favourite childhood film.

Mine would be Seymour. Call him Seymour.

My daughter was same, thought her boy would be nameless...she called him Freddie James. It suits him Smile

My favourite childhood film was Labyrinth Grin

So he could be Toby after the baby in that? Or Ludo after the orangutan monster thing? Or Hoggle after the Troll? So many options Grin

There was a blue haired worn in it too but I can't remember what he was called?

And shame on me because I can't remember the name of David Bowie's character Shock

Just give him a family name.

Family names are usually old fashioned or outdated and we don't like names like that.

Our current DS has family names as his two middle names but that's where we draw the line Grin

David Bowie's character was Jareth, that could work. Or Toby is lovely, that was on our list.

Toby is gorgeous.
Have you thought of letting your little boy choose a name.
Mind you if my dsis let my nephew choose a name for his expected baby brother. He'd want to call him after one of the Teenage Mutant hero turtles. Grin

I liked Toby but DH said no.

Our DS wants to call it Blaze as his favourite cartoon is currently Blaze and the Monster Machine. I said no to that so he asked if we could call him Domino after our neighbour's cat Grin

Our son is called Arron.

I like your DHs suggestion of Lewis,

I like it too but the letters are practically an anagram of our surname and when you say it together it's a bit of a tongue twister and it looks a bit odd.

DH did suggest the spelling of Louis but I can't be doing with people pronouncing his name as Lu-ee all the time which would undoubtedly happen.
