Opinions on 'Kara'

I'm looking for opinions on the name Kara Casey (as in her surname will be Casey). We're thinking middle name Leilani. Kara pronounced kar-ruh and leilani pronounced lay-lah-nee.

Honest opinions please!!

I am biased but I love it!

My first reaction is that it ought to be Cara. I can see why you're avoiding CC but she will have to say "with a k" all the time, but that's not a big deal. I quite like it.

I don't like it but I can't pinpoint why. Sorry, that's not overly helpful.

I like it but much prefer it spelt Cara which is the Irish for friend. Would go well with the Irish surname 😊

I think Kara may be the Italian spelling though.

my DS1 had a best friend in primary who was Leilani (pronounced the same). Very unusual and very pretty.
I sort of agree with pp who thinks that Kara Casey doesn't go well. How about Leilani Kara Casey?

I think Cara Casey looks much better written down than Kara Casey. But it sounds nice no matter what way it is spelt. Smile

I like Kara/Cara but not with your surname sorry

Thanks for all your honest opinions. I truly love the names Kara and Leilani so I'm thinking of sticking with it - after all, we can't do much about the surname (and I'm sure there are far worse surnames out there). I'm feeling the positives outweigh the negatives here.

IReally lovely names. I'd normally slightly prefer the C spelling, but I do like how the first and last initials KC sounds like Casey. .

I prefer Cara to Kara, and the way it looks with your surname.

YY to Cara Casey, my son has a double initial fore/surname and I love the way it sounds!
Also, LOVE Leilani, I know a 13yo Leilani and she is a beauty - in and out!

Very nice.

I like the Kara spelling better than Cara.

I prefer Cara.

We have a large Polish community here and when i was trying to decide between the C and K spelling a friend laughed because Kara means chastisement or punishment which immediately put me off.

Cara is Irish for friend... And is a popular variety of potato. What's not to love? :o

I like it. Either Kara Casey (KC) or Cara Casey (CC) sound good. I'd normally go for the C spelling over the K but on this occasion I think the K is better.
